She only focused on the fact that Ellie wasn’t hurt, pletely disregarding the dangerous situation Demi had put her in!
Ellie realized that, at this point, any exnation would be futile. On her way here, Ellie had anticipated this showdown and believed she could control her emotions.
She was wrong.
Her disappointment had turned to despair, forcing her to face the harsh reality. And the reality was that she couldn’t have any expectations from people.
Closing her eyes, Ellie pushed down the surge of emotions within her. She quietly gathered the new clothes from the floor and ced them on the sofa.
“Grandma, I did nothing wrongst night,” she stated.
“Ellie, you ungrateful wretch!” Litzy cried, raising her hand to p.
Ellie reacted quickly. She firmly grabbed Litzy’s wrist and shoved her back without hesitation!
Demi tried to help Litzy but fell onto the sofa along with her.
“Demi!” Cecelia called out anxiously, then turned to Ellie. “How could you do that? I regret taking care of you when you were young!” she taunted.
“Grandma, they started it!” Ellie pointed out, feeling both sad and powerless.
“Ellie, I’m so disappointed in you! Take your clothes and leave! I can’t bear this anymore!” Cecelia ordered, grabbing the leather jacket and throwing it on the floor.
Ellie looked at the furious Cecelia before her. She couldn’t remember thest time she felt any affection or love from her.
“Ellie! Remember, I’m carrying the Thorpe family’s great-grandchild. If anything happens to me, they won’t let you off so easy!” Demi screeched. She nervously patted her stomach and was relieved to find there was no pain.
Litzy was furious! She ordered the servants, “Catch this ungrateful wretch! Let me see how she leaves this house today!”

“Enough!” Houston mmed his fist on the table. “What is thismotion? If you have nothing more to say, then shut up!”
Ellie looked at Houston in surprise. Could this selfish man be helping her?
“Ellie, I’ll walk you out.” Houston stood up to escort her out.
“Grandma, take care of yourself,” Ellie said, bowing to Cecelia, only to find that the older woman had turned her face away.
Cecelia was ignoring her.
Ellie’s heart constricted, and she left without engaging in further conversation.
“Mom, does dad not like me?” Demi asked Litzy with a wounded expression.
Deep down, she already knew the answer.

“My dear daughter, don’t overthink it. I’m here for you!” Litzyforted Demi, stroking her head.
