?Chapter 400:
Meanwhile, Ellie was looking around the hall. “Didn’t Edwine today?” she asked Kaiden.
His face instantly darkened. “Why are you asking about another man?” Ellie, already dozing off, failed to notice the shift in his mood.
She exined, “Didn’t hee to the Rich Bar with Jerome that night? I had intended to y with him some more. It was rather fun.” She had enjoyed ying dice with Edwin. Unfortunately, both Edwin and Jerome were busy today and couldn’te.
“I’m fun, too,” Kaiden dered as he squeezed Ellie’s delicate hand between his. His voice deepened when he added, “We can go home right now, and you can y with me all you want.”
Ellie immediately pulled her hand out of his grip and covered his mouth, her eyes wide with rm. “What do you think you’re saying? Can’t you read the room?”
Did he have a penchant for talking dirty in public?
Kaiden shrugged nonchntly. “What does it matter? We are all adults here.”
Ellie blinked at him, speechless and indignant. He had a point, though. Knowing he had her, Kaiden smirked and pinched her cheek.
Ellie acted too slowly, and when she swatted his fingers away, they left a print on her face. It was all too easy to leave a mark on her soft skin.
A cluster of socialites was loitering nearby, seemingly chatting with each other. In truth, they were keeping a close eye on Ellie and Kaiden. At this moment, they were equally confused and shocked by the couple’s exchange.
They wondered why Kaiden broke away from Carole and approached Ellie instead.
They wondered what Ellie and Kaiden were talking about.
Appalled, they discovered that Ellie had dared to ce her hand on Kaiden, and were even more astonished that he was not offended by her actions.
It was all so strange.
After their brief banter, Ellie was no longer sleepy. Something else urred to her.

“Have you forgotten something, Kaiden?” When he said nothing, she kindly reminded him, “You still owe me fried chicken and milk tea.”
Ah, that. So much had happened since, and Kaiden had forgotten about it. “I’ll take you out to eat after the party.” He was easygoing like that.
But Ellie had already made a decision. “I’m not in the mood for fried chicken. Let’s have barbecue instead.”
Her words invoked the vision of smoke billowing toward him and getting into his clothes and hair. Kaiden frowned. “Barbecue causes cancer.”
“Nonsense. People also say that you’d get heart diseases from milk tea. It’s all fake news.” Ellie narrowed her eyes and pouted. “Don’t try to wriggle your way out of your promise, Kaiden. Have you forgotten your barbaric behavior fromst night? You have to make it up to me.”
Kaiden lowered his head andughed briefly. It was so short that their onlookers almost thought they had imagined the whole thing.
“Hmm, it looks like you are no longer sleepy. Fine, I’ll take you out to get milk tea and barbecue. Afterward, can we have anotherte night together?”
By the time Ellie realized what she had walked into, it was toote. A rosy blush appeared on her cheeks, and she blinked rapidly to cover up her embarrassment.
