?Chapter 398:
After a long pause, she finally managed a weak, unconvincing smile. “I know… That day, I heard Bruce call Miss Gordon… Mrs. Thorpe.” Uttering these words was exceptionally challenging for her.
Carole couldn’t ept the fact that another woman had already be Kaiden’s wife, a position she had longed for and fantasized about for years!
She sped her hands in front of her. When she looked at him again, she was calm, the true picture ofposure. However, one look at her white, tightly clenched fingers made it clear she was anything butposed.
“Kaiden, you… When did you get together with Miss Gordon? Why didn’t I hear anything of it? Miss Gordon has been famous since she was a child. Why didn’t you have feelings for her…”
“Our marriage is a secret,” Kaiden replied. He was a little more patient with Carole than he was with others, but he could only answer one question patiently.
“Kaiden, is it because of Miss Gordon… She doesn’t want you to hang out with me, does she?” Carole chose her words carefully.
“No,” Kaiden answered, then suddenly recalled Ellie’s attitude, so he added, “Remember to take a coat the next time you go out.”
He didn’t add anything else to the abrupt sentence, but anyone with a functioning brain could discern what he truly meant.
Upon hearing this, Carole’splexion grew visibly pale. She hung her head with a sense of guilt and quietly replied, “I understand… We have known each other since childhood, and throughout the years, you have always been there to take care of me. I’m sorry I didn’t anticipate that Miss Gordon would… mind it so much.” She almost said that Ellie was so narrow-minded.
Seeing that Carole had nothing else to say, Kaiden nodded at her and moved towards Ellie’s direction.
While sitting on the sofa, Ellie started feeling a little sleepy. She couldn’t help but squint and let out a gentle yawn, like a content cat basking in the warmth of the sun.
When she opened her eyes again, there was a wheelchair in front of her.

“Are you sleepy? It’s just seven o’clock.” Kaiden frowned slightly, thinking that she was not feeling well.
“Humph. Are you saying you don’t have any clue why I would be so sleepy?”
Since they were in public, Ellie had no choice but to restrain her unhappiness.
Kaiden looked down and chuckled.
Carole, trailing a few steps behind, overheard Ellie’s words. From her angle, she could see a passionate red hickey next to the cor of Ellie’s ck turtleneck sweater.
They were all adults, so anyone who saw it would be able to figure out how Ellie got that mark.
It was winter now, so no mosquito could have bitten her.
“Wee back, Miss Lambert.” Ellie looked over Kaiden’s shoulder to address the woman behind him.
“Thank you,” Carole replied, though she found the greeting to be anything but weing. If anything, it felt like a provocation. “It looks like you are not in good spirits, Miss Gordon. Please feel free to retire early and get some rest.”
Ellie was an eyesore to Carole, and she wanted to get rid of the woman as soon as possible.
