Chapter 380:
Carole couldn’t walk fast in high heels, so by the time she came out of the office, she only saw Kaiden’s retreating figure as he entered the elevator.
The only thing she could do was stand there, feeling depressed and sad.
“Miss Lambert, do you need me to get someone to take you home?” Bruce offered.
“No, thanks. I drove here by myself. I can take myself… Wait!” A thought suddenly entered Carole’s mind. Without thinking twice, she quickly asked him, “Bruce, I heard you say… Mrs. Thorpe, right?” She was sure that she had heard those words, but she just needed to be sure. Part of her couldn’t ept the implication behind those words.
“Miss Lambert, it’s better for you to ask Mr. Thorpe about it personally,” Bruce suggested.
If Zoey had been in the office right now, she would have noticed that something was wrong. Bruce was a very cautious person. If he wanted to conceal Kaiden’s marriage from Carole, he would definitely not have called Ellie “Mrs. Thorpe.” Instead, he would have just called her the usual “Miss Gordon.”
Carole remained silent as she processed this. Could Kaiden really be married?
He was married to Ellie?
How could this be?
Carole had always thought Kaiden would never fall in love with any woman. But if he ever did, it would be her. How could it be Ellie of all people?
Ellie had just walked out of GT Group when she received a call from Demi.
“Why hasn’t the school issue been resolved yet, Ellie? You promised to help me!” Demi practically shouted, her voice filled with disappointment.
This brought a frown to Ellie’s face. With one hand holding the phone to her ear, she entered her car and started it with the other hand. She responded to Demi just as the engine roared to life,
“When did I make such a promise?”
“That day at home,” Demi reminded her. “You told me you would think of a way!”
She was desperate. She didn’t want to be expelled from school at all!
“But right now, there’s nothing I can do,” Ellie said impatiently and hung up.
But immediately, her mind went to Cecelia.
Last time, Cecelia had almost seeded in making Ellie promise to fulfill her birthday wish.
Not wanting to be troubled by her conscience, Ellie began to think of a suitable exnation for Cecelia.
But not long after that, Ellie received a call from her supervisor.
“Ellie, Demi is making a scene in the dean’s office. I reported it to the Gordon family, but they referred me to you, saying you would take care of the issue. You know, you’re a respected alumnus of the school. We are worried that her actions may affect your reputation. Hence, we hope you cane back to school and address it.”
“Okay, I’lle over right away,” Ellie promised, albeit with a dark look on her face.
Demi was in the dean’s office, crying pitifully, waiting for Ellie to take care of the issue for her.
“I believe the teachers should handle this ording to school policy. My opinion shouldn’t matter.” Ellie quickly rified her stance. “I’m just an alumna who’s graduated. I know I can’t interfere with the school’s policies or affect its principles.”
