    “Oh, Kaiden. Um… are you still busy?” Carole quickly asked as she walked into the office with a smile, trying to hide the fact that she had just been thinking about him.


    “What are you doing here?” Kaiden asked as he gestured for her to sit down, then went back to reviewing and approving the documents in front of him. After finishing with these, he would be able to leave work for the day.


    “I brought your jacket,” Carole exined, cing arge paper bag on the table in front of him. “I even took it to be dry-cleaned.”


    When Kaiden heard this, he frowned. “But I told you I don’t need it.”


    Carole smiled. “Well, I thought you were just being polite to me. Anyway, I’ve dry-cleaned the jacket, and now I’m returning it to you.”


    Frankly, her main purpose ining was not to return the jacket. It was just an excuse to see Kaiden.


    When he didn’t respond, she added, “Kaiden, another reason I came today was to find out when you’ll be free. I want to visit your brother.”


    “How about this weekend?” Kaiden suggested. He wasn’t free on weekdays.


    Just then, there was a knock on the door and Bruce walked in. “Miss Lambert?” he said in surprise when he saw Carole. He hadn’t expected to find her in Kaiden’s office.


    “Good day, Mr. Harper. Long time no see,” Carole greeted him.


    Bruce nodded in acknowledgment before turning to Kaiden. “Mr. Thorpe, the bodyguards said they saw Miss Curtis in Rich Bar that day. Also, Mrs. Thorpe didn’t leave the Gordons’ house at the time Houston mentioned. She left before 7 p.m.”


    Whenever Kaiden went out, he was always apanied by bodyguards. Even in the bar, they would be scattered among the crowd. Kaiden had instructed Bruce to find out if something had happened to Ellie, as she had not been in a good moodtely.


    After listening to Bruce’s report, Kaiden tried to recall the past events. Baylee usually went to the Rich Bar with Ellie. If Ellie had left the Gordons’ house by 7, then… the figure he had seen at the bar was none other than Ellie!


    Since she had seen him, why did she still turn around and leave?

    “Kaiden, where are you going?” Carole asked in surprise, even getting up to follow him when she saw him heading for the door suddenly.


    “Bruce, send her back,” Kaiden ordered as he wheeled his wheelchair out of the office.


    When Zoey saw himing out of the office, she quickly approached him.


    “Mr. Thorpe, this is the offer letter that Miss Gordon just returned. She refused Harvillston,” she exined to him as she ran beside his fast-moving wheelchair.


    When Kaiden heard what she said, he slowed down and asked in surprise, “Did shee just now?”


    The question was so forceful and unexpected that Zoey was almost startled. But she quickly regained herposure and nodded.


    “Y… yes. Yes, she did.”


    “Why didn’t shee to me directly?” Kaiden wondered aloud.


    “Um… maybe it was because she saw Miss Lamberting to see you, so…” Zoey suddenly trailed off. Frankly, she was just guessing. She had no concrete proof that this was the case.


    Kaiden took the offer letter from her and went straight to the elevator. As he moved, he asked his bodyguards to find out Ellie’s location.
