    Handing the Harvillston offer to Zoey, Ellie said, “Please give this to Kaiden. I’ve decided not to ept it. If yourpany isn’t keen on taking it back, I might have to discard it.”


    Ellie felt hesitant about epting the chief stylist position at Harvillston.


    In that moment, she made up her mind to decline the offer.


    Initially, joining GT Group as a co-stylist and aiming for Harvillston had been part of her n, given its reputation and international prospects.


    But epting the position would mean her career being closely linked with Kaiden’s.


    Her decision might have been different if not for recent developments. Carole’s sudden return, her meeting with Kaiden at the bar, and her presence at Kaiden’s office were rming. These revtions jolted Ellie back to reality.


    After Zoey took the offer letter, Ellie bid her farewell and left.


    As Carole watched Ellie, she couldn’t help but get lost in thought. But she quickly recovered and rushed to catch up with Zoey. As they approached the CEO’s office, she spoke up.


    “Zoey, since Kaiden is so busy, maybe I’ll have toe another day.”


    Zoey came from a wealthy family and had graduated from a well-renowned university. She had known Carole for over ten years now.


    Carole had thought that Zoey would only be in Kaiden’s employ for a few years, just to build up her resume. She never expected that Zoey would remain as Kaiden’s secretary all this time. It was very surprising to her, but it didn’t stop her from maintaining a good rtionship with Zoey.


    The previous night, Carole had asked Zoey about Kaiden’s schedule because she wanted to return the jacket. Zoey had promised to notify her, and this afternoon, she called to tell her that Kaiden was free.


    Carole had found it a little strange, but she didn’t think too much of it.


    “Mr. Thorpe is usually busy every day. But today, he’s free,” Zoey said to her. “In fact, he’s usually very efficient, but he is oftente nowadays, so he has to stayte at work.”


    “Why is hete?” Carole asked curiously.


    “He doesn’t actuallyete to work per se,” Zoey rified. “It’s just that the morning meeting is usually postponed since he doesn’te early enough to attend it. It seems he’s spending more time at home with Miss Gordon.”


    By now, they had reached the door of the CEO’s office. Zoey knocked and pushed it open.


    “Miss Lambert, pleasee in,” she said to Carole.


    But Carole didn’t hear her. Her mind was somewhere else. She was still thinking about what Zoey had revealed.


    As far as she knew, Kaiden was a workaholic who was totallymitted to his work. So why would he do something like this? Why would he postpone the morning meeting just to spend more time with Ellie?


    Judging from the tone of Zoey’s voice when she said it, it seemed Kaiden had done this a lot.


    As Carole thought of all this, a great sense of crisis rose in her heart until Kaiden’s voice pulled her back to reality. “Carole?”


    When he first heard the knock and the sound of the door opening, Kaiden didn’t hear any voice for quite a while. But when he finally looked up, he saw Carole standing at the door like someone in a trance.
