Chapter 327

    ?Chapter 327:

Ironically, Marvin remembered all his subordinates clearly, but he treated Baylee as his possession.

“What’s going on?” Ellie whispered, careful not to disturb the sleeping Marvin.

“The doctor said he suffered a head injury with internal swelling. It might resolve after the swelling goes down,” Baylee sighed.

Yet, the doctor couldn’t predict when that would be.

Ellie, at a loss, inquired, “What’s the n now? His subordinates are outside. Are you going to hand him over?”

Baylee was pondering the same thing. However, Marvin was reluctant to leave. His loyalty to her was evident, and his men were clearly wary of her departure.

“Mr. Thorpe, please withdraw your guards. Marvin’s team will ensure his safety,” Baylee stated firmly. “Thank you for your help these past days. I regret involving you.”

    Kaiden gave a cursory nod.

He was involved solely for Ellie’s sake.

“And what about you?” Ellie asked, concerned.

“We’ll see how it goes,” Baylee sighed. “Repaying a debt, especially one tied to safety, isplicated.”

She couldn’t fathom why Marvin, who had saved her life, wouldn’t let her leave, despite not knowing him well enough.

Kaiden’s gaze lingered on Marvin. Even in sleep, Marvin seemed alert, like a hunter poised to strike.

The son of the Hill family, always sharp, now incapacitated?

    It seemed almost absurd.

After leaving the ward, Marvin’s crew-cut subordinate expressed gratitude to Kaiden and presentedvish gifts.

It contained wild ginseng, dried tangerine peel, a box of gold bars, and a valuable oil painting. The gesture was incredibly generous.

Kaiden epted the gifts without objection. He instructed Bruce to store them appropriately. The ginseng and tangerine peel were to be used for Ellie’s benefit, the gold bars converted into spending money for her, and the oil painting was to be ced in her cloakroom.

“Mr. Thorpe, I’m Marcelo Vance, Mr. Hill’s assistant. May I speak with you?” the crew-cut man requested politely.

Kaiden gave a nod, and Bruce wheeled him to a secluded spot at the corridor’s end.

“Mr. Thorpe, thank you for your assistance. I apologize for any earlier offense; I was unaware of your position on this matter. I hope you can maintain confidentiality regarding Mr. Hill’s location,” Marcelo remarked.

“You think those gifts are enough for that?” Kaiden was indifferent to Marvin’s situation, but he didn’t appreciate being spoken to in such a manner.

“No, that’s not it,” Marcelo quickly rified. “Mr. Thorpe, money isn’t your concern, but I sense Miss Gordon is important to you. Miss Curtis, who Mr. Hill values, is close with Miss Gordon. This connection could foster a friendship between you and Mr. Hill.”

“Why would I be friends with someone with a brain issue?” Kaiden’s tone was dismissive.

    Marcelo, unfazed, nodded in agreement.
