Chapter 250

    ?Chapter 250:

Edwin’s heart raced, feeling suddenly guilty without knowing why. “Yes,” Ellie confirmed. “The night I returned from the Rich Bar, I left it on the bedside table. You had asked about it.”

Kaiden remembered the incident, initially thinking the gift might havee from a woman. He wondered how unusual it was for a man to gift a hairpin to a female friend.

“Wait for me over there,” Kaiden directed Ellie towards the corner couch lounge.

As Ellie moved away, the tension in the air seemed to thicken.

“She’s with me tonight, Edwin. What were you thinking?” Kaiden’s tone was unusually harsh and cold towards Edwin, who was Theo’s younger brother.

“It’s not like that, Kaiden. I didn’t know… My apologies,” Edwin stammered, taken aback. He appeared confused, Ellie’s mention of the “bedside table” echoing in his mind.

    Was Ellie living with Kaiden?

Edwin questioned himself, feeling foolish. Just two days ago, Ellie had been asking about Kaiden and Carole. How could he have thought that she and Kaiden were unrted?

Kaiden, idly ying with therge sapphire on his wheelchair’s armrest, regarded Edwin closely, focusing his attention on him.

“Edwin, do you like Ellie?” Kaiden inquired.

“No, not at all. How is that possible?” Edwin replied quickly, his heart racing. “You know we had some misunderstandings before. We’ve only just resolved them and aren’t even close friends.”

Kaiden didn’t seem concerned with what Edwin thought. “Just remember what you’ve said,” he advised, his words carrying more weight as a warning than simple advice.

“I need to find my mom,” Edwin said, forcing a smile, unaware of how strained he looked.

When Araceli saw Edwin looking lost, she teased, “What happened? You look like you’ve lost your soul.”

Sitting on the armchair next to her, Edwin asked gloomily, “Mom, am I significantly inferior to Kaiden?”

After a moment’s thought, Araceli replied candidly, “There’s a vast difference between you and Kaiden.” The bluntness only made Edwin feel worse.

“You’re interested in that girl, aren’t you?” Araceli asked with a yful smile.

    “Who? Which girl?”

    “Ellie, of course.”

Edwin was taken aback. “No way, I’ve known her since we were kids. If I had liked her, I would’ve known long before now.”

Araceli couldn’tprehend why her son was so oblivious. Why would Edwin always hover around Ellie and tease her when they were younger if he didn’t like her? Why would he give her that ck gemstone he had found and polished himself on hering of age if he had no feelings for her?

“Whether you have feelings for Ellie is irrelevant. Just put it out of your mind. She belongs to Kaiden,” Araceli advised, pausing to sip her…
