    “Calm down. He didn’t recognize you as Kaiden,” Ellieforted him. She couldn’t help but look at him with doubt. “You always seem so calm, but today, you were ready to throw punches.”


    Kaiden nced at her. Did she think he reacted just because Herman had offended him?


    “Past this road, there’s a restaurant owned by the youngest Lee family member. It’s got a great atmosphere and delicious food. How about dinner there?” Ellie suggested, changing the subject.


    Kaiden asked, “Who is it?”


    “It’s not important. Forget it.”


    Ellie momentarily slipped her mind that Kaiden wasn’t interested in social circles.


    After their meal, they returned to their hotel.


    Ellie decided to freshen up with a shower first.

    “Associate with him? He had an altercation with Mrs. Thorpe just this afternoon. He…” Kaiden, puffing on his cigarette, listened to the entire story. Then, with a lift of his eyebrows, he inquired, “Did he ask for me to deal with him?”

    The next morning, Ellie woke up to her rm, feeling aches all over her body. Her skin was covered in marks left by Kaiden under the light quilt. The culprit had stayed upter than her the night before. Now, he was lounging on the sofa, browsing through his emails.


    While Ellie struggled to open her sleepy eyes, he seemed quite lively.


    Feeling a bit annoyed, Ellie grabbed a pillow and tossed it at him. Kaiden, as if he had eyes everywhere, caught the pillow effortlessly without even looking up.


    “Do you need help getting dressed?” Kaiden asked.


    “You’re thinking too much,” Ellie replied with a re.


    Right after Ellie had changed, someone knocked on the door.


    She quickly slipped into her slippers and rushed to answer it. But then, she remembered there was another man in her room.


    “You should really hide yourself.” Ellie turned around, yanked Kaiden to his feet, and shoved him into the bathroom. “Don’t make a sound.”
