Chapter 55

    ?Chapter 55:

Annoyed, he pinched her cheek, his gaze sharp.

“Ellie, look at me right now,” he insisted.

But Ellie, lost in her drunken sleep, didn’t respond. She nestled closer to him, more rxed than the night before.

“If you don’t stop moving, I’ll do something you won’t like!” Kaiden warned, feeling a familiar stir within him. He held her still, preventing further movement.

Eventually, Ellie settled into a deep sleep.

Kaiden rose, returning to the bathroom.

He couldn’t help but feel foolish.

One benefit of fine liquor was the absence of a hangover.

When Ellie awoke, her head was spinning. She felt as if she were floating on clouds.

Sitting up, it took her a full minute to orient herself. The sight of a dark nket and the modern décor around her snapped her back to reality. This wasn’t her room.

Was this… Kaiden’s room, the one she had entered on their wedding night?

Ellie nced down, noticing she was wearing a ck shirt that wasn’t hers.

    This realization left her perplexed.

After changing, Kaiden returned from the bathroom to find Ellie examining her attire in disbelief.

Startled by his entrance, she stammered, “I… You… Is this your room?”

Kaiden regarded her as if she were being absurd.

If it weren’t his room, why would he be here?

Ellie, confused, probed further. “But how did I end up here? I thought I was in my room. And this shirt…”

“Don’t you remember anything?” Kaiden queried.

Ellie tried to recall. “I remember drinking some juice, I think? It’s all a blur from that point.”

The tales you love are at g?lnσν???s?c?m

But shouldn’t she have woken up in her own room?

    Juice?

Kaiden couldn’t help but scoff. “Ellie, calling Long Ind Iced Tea just a ‘juice’ is quite something.”

Despite her low tolerance for alcohol, only able to handle half a ss of wine, Ellie was no stranger to the world of spirits. As the discreet owner of Rich Bar, she was well-acquainted with popr cocktails, including the renowned Long Ind Iced Tea.

It was famous for its strong alcohol content, known for sparking passionate nights among those who indulged in it.

Realizing that she had gotten drunkst night from the drinks, she frantically inspected her clothes. A sigh of relief escaped her lips when she found no signs of hickeys or bruises.

Yet, as she finished checking, she regretted it almost instantly. Looking up, she saw Kaiden’s mocking smile.

    Was he… mocking her?

That was the first thing she should do, right? Checking herself after a ckout seemed prudent.
