    “Ellie…”


    “I’m sleepy!” she cut him off, curling up. Disinclined to delve into her difort, she closed her eyes, murmuring, “I want to sleep now.”


    Kaiden cursed under his breath, frustration evident.


    A momentter, he carefully lifted her, intent on leaving the damp bed.


    “I want to sleep!” Ellie’s eyes fluttered open, her movements bing more ragged.


    Though inebriated, the intensity of their recent encounter made Ellie instinctively wary of Kaiden, wanting to distance herself from him.


    A drunk’s subconscious can sometimes be their saving grace. Kaiden’s expression was icy as he warned, “Move again, and I’ll throw you down. You’ll break your legs then!”


    Ellie, terrified, remained still.


    Her eyes opened wide, ring at Kaiden, her look using him of bullying her.


    Handling a drunken Ellie was troublesome!


    With a forceful kick, Kaiden opened his bedroom door and ced her on his bed. “Sleep!”


    Confused, Ellie looked up at him. “And what about you?”


    “Just sleep!” he repeated sternly.


    Ellie yawned, burying her face in the pillow.


    Kaiden clenched his teeth in frustration, opting for a cold shower. Never before, in his twenty-seven years, had someone made him this angry without a way to release his fury.


    Mid-shower, Ellie’s words echoed in his mind. “You’re not my man.” Hiswfully wedded wife was in his bed, yet here he was, dousing his desires with cold water.


    An hour passed.


    Emerging from the shower, Kaiden, enveloped in a chill, found Ellie asleep. The lingering effects of the cocktail had taken their toll. The air conditioner set low, Ellie curled into a small bundle on the bed, her head the only thing peeking out from the nket.


    Her thick, curlyshes, petite nose, and small mouth gave her a delicate appearance. Even in sleep, her lips curved slightly, softening her exquisite features.

    His senses were filled with her scent, a delicate blend of honey and milk. Her soft form pressed close to him.


    Kaiden, troubled by her proximity, closed his eyes tightly.

    How was he expected to rest with her clinging like this?


    He considered pushing her away, but when he tried, she caught his hand.


    “Baylee, let’s sleep,” Ellie murmured in her slumber.
