?Chapter 53:
Kaiden’s gaze shifted to the doctor and the maid. “Be careful with what you say.”
“Of course!” They both nodded quickly, understanding the importance of discretion.
They had no intention of spreading the day’s events—such gossip was forgotten as soon as they left the room.
Ellie, slightly dazed from her inebriation, remained seated on the bed, sleepiness tugging at her. Yet, she managed a sleepy “Hey! Bye!” to the departing doctor and maid, her smile gentle and unguarded. The maid instinctively clutched her chest, struck by the contrast. Ellie, typically the epitome of poise and elegance, transformed under the influence of alcohol… She was incredibly charming!
God! Who could possibly resist such allure?
It was no surprise that Kaiden appeared so amodating with her.
Ellie then turned to Kaiden, puzzled as to why he hadn’t left.
“Bye!” She waved at him too.
Kaiden almost found humor in Ellie’s state.
Gently holding her face, he gazed deeply into her eyes, then down at her flushed lips. “Ellie, you’re mistaken.”
What had she misunderstood?
Confused, Ellie tried to focus, her mind muddled by alcohol.
Kaiden rified, “That kiss, we settled before. But now, you’ve given me another one.”
Ellie’s expression shifted to bewilderment. “Really? But I thought…” Her eyes widened in shock.
Kaiden’s lips met hers.
This kiss differed from the earlier one; it held more tenderness, sted longer, and delved deeper.
Ellie’s thoughts couldn’t catch up. She remained motionless, yielding to the moment.
“Hey…” Only when she needed air did she start tapping Kaiden. Releasing her lips from his, Kaiden watched as she leaned against his chest, her strength ebbing away.

Ellie, catching her breath, was oblivious to the intense longing in his eyes.
She was unaware of any lurking peril.
“You don’t owe me now.” Kaiden’s usually crisp voice sounded husky. He gently wiped the corner of her mouth, his gaze deepening. He leaned in, kissing her once more.
Ellie, losing her bnce, fell back onto the quilt.
Kaiden followed, pinning her down, his kisses bing more fervent, more demanding.
The moment ended with Ellie gasping for breath, overwhelmed. Kaiden, hovering above her, traced his eyes from her delicate brows to her slender neck and curving silhouette…
“It’s ufortable,” Ellie murmured, her brows knitting.
“What?”
What did she mean?
She shifted, repeating, “There’s something ufortable between my legs.”
Realizing what had made her ufortable, Kaiden inhaled sharply.
In her lucid state, Ellie would never utter such words.
