?Chapter 52:
This was unfamiliar territory for Kaiden.
After a brief pause, he attempted a different approach. “Ellie, if you cooperate with the doctor, I’ll buy you a handbag.”
He recalled Jerome’s advice about women: “Handbags can cure all a woman’s ailments. And if one doesn’t do the trick, just get another.”
Ellie, still somewhat inebriated, gazed at Kaiden with a dazed yet attentive look, clearly hanging on his words.
Kaiden had mentally resolved to instruct Bruce to purchase ten Hermes bags the next day.
But unexpectedly, Ellie cupped his face with her soft hands, her eyes brightening.
“I don’t want a bag; I want…” Her voice lifted joyously. “Hot chocte!”
Kaiden was momentarily taken aback by her simple request. What?
“With toppings,” Ellie emphasized seriously. “Toppings are essential!”
Kaiden, aware of Ellie’s coffee-making skills, was surprised that her drunken fixation was on hot chocte.
Was this really Ellie?
“Don’t you agree?” She became wary when Kaiden didn’t immediately respond, suspecting he might renege on his promise. “If you don’t agree, I won’t get treated! I won’t! You’re a liar!”
Kaiden responded with a cold scoff.
He briefly considered refusing, as it wasn’t his leg at stake.
But then, he acquiesced. “Okay.”
“Okay?” Ellie, still under the influence, waited for him to borate.
Kaiden’s expression remained stoic, almost intimidating. “I will get you that hot chocte,” he conceded.
Ellie’s face lit up with a satisfied smile. Suddenly, she leaned forward.

“Love you!”
She nted a swift kiss on his lips!
The maid, observing this, nearly dropped the tray in surprise.
Ellie’s whimsical actions were typical of someone inebriated, devoid of logic.
“You kissed me earlier, so now we’re even!”
After her deration, Ellie turned her attention away from Kaiden, sitting still to allow the doctor to continue.
She winced in pain, her expression reflecting a profound sense of grievance.
Kaiden, momentarily taken aback, quickly regained hisposure as if the kiss hadn’t fazed him.
Yet, to an observant eye, his gaze had deepened, conveying an intensity akin to a dormant beast. Beneath his calm exterior, he seemed ready to pounce, disying a predatory nature hidden beneath his controlled demeanor.
“Alright, Mr. Thorpe. Please ensure Mrs. Thorpe’s wound doesn’t get wet again,” the doctor advised afterpleting the treatment, visibly relieved yet sweating from the tension.
This simple procedure had felt more daunting than a high-stakes surgery!
