Chapter 120

    Aria’s POV

He screamed in pain, like a dying wild animal, and it made my heart clench.

“Why are you still protecting her? What’s the point of all this?!” I couldn’t stop myself from yelling..

Glen was supposed to be one of Grayson’s best men. He had aplished great things and still had a bright future ahead.

But now he threw it all away for I.

That fucking I! That fake, cold–hearted woman. I knew she wouldn’t even blink if Glen died. Why couldn’t he see what he was giving up for her?!

Glen coughed up blood and grinned at me. “Of course… you wouldn’t get it. You wouldn’t get the special connection between me and Lady I. You’re just a gold–digger. Like most women, you only care about men’s money and power…”

“And I is any different?! She loves money and power more than any of us! That’s why she married Grayson in the first ce!”

“No, no, wrong… Lady I is the kindest woman I’ve ever met. Back then, no woman would even talk to me. They all thought me as this strange, weird guy… Only Lady I found out how special I was. Only she was nice to me. Only she smiled at me. She’s perfect. A true goddess…”

I couldn’t believe how stupid this man was.

“Wake up, you idiot! She’s using you. She acts like that with every man who’s useful to her,” I cried out. “If you weren’t Grayson’s head guard, you think she’d give a damn about you? She was nice to you because she knew you’d be useful one day.”

He choked on more blood. Then he looked up at me with a strange smile:

“Just…just give up already. You’ll never turn me against her. And this…is your first time interrogating someone, right? You’re… not very good at it.”

A bad feeling shot through me.

Suddenly, he grabbed my ankle. I wasn’t ready–I didn’t think he could still move.

With a crazy roar, he threw me to the ground.

    SHIT!

“DIE YOU FUCKING WHORE! DIE!!!” He screamed, driving the knife toward my eye with all his strength!

I yelled and caught the de with both my hands and stopped the knife in midair. The sharp edge cut into my skin, and blood dripped onto my face.

I fought against him, my hands shaking from the pain, but I didn’t dare let go. One slip… and the de would go right through my

    eye…

Even severely injured, he’s still stronger than I was. So he managed to push the knife down bit by bit. As the knife got closer to my face, cold despair washed over me.

    “-Grayson!” I cried out.

    CRASH!!!

The living room window shattered. A tall figure burst through it like he just heard my calling. The next second, Glen was yanked away by the back of his cor and lifted into the air.

The knife ttered from his hand.

Grayson held him by the throat, his face full of rage. Glen clutched at his neck, choking, his face turning purple.

“You fucking bastard!” Grayson roared, squeezing tighter. Glen’s throat made a sickening cracking sound.

“Wait!” I scrambled to my feet. “Don’t kill him!”

“Don’t try and stop me, Aria,” Grayson roared, his raging voice shook the room. “After what he did…he must die.”

“Not yet,” I insisted. “Someone told him to do this. Don’t you want to know who really wants me dead?”

Grayson’s jaw tightened, but a flicker of reason broke through his anger. He threw Glen to the floor like a piece of trash and strode

    over to me.

    “…You’re hurt…again.”

He picked me up, my feet leaving the ground, and held me so tight I thought he wanted to melt me into his own flesh.

His voice was shaking. I could feel the dark emotions raging inside him.

“Why… why do you keep getting hurt…no matter how careful I am?! As long as you’re with me…it’s never safe. I don’t even know what to do now…What the hell should I do, Aria?!”

“Don’t be like this, Grayson. I told you, it’s not-”

“Don’t say it’s not my fault again!” he growled, his eyes ring with anger. “It doesn’t help! Do you have any idea how angry and helpless I feel right now? I want to–I want to fucking kill-”

I pressed my lips against his, hard, and stopped him. “You’want to kill the one behind this. So do I. So let’s find out who it is.”

    It was time.

Time to expose I and get my revenge. I would make Glen talk, and this time I wouldn’t hold back-

A gunshot rang out behind us.

I jumped out of Grayson’s arms and stared in horror at Glen. He had been shot in the head. He fell to the floor, dead.

    “NO!!!”

I was furious. I turned and screamed at the soldiers who had just rushed in, “Who the hell shot him? Who told you to kill him?!”

A soldier looked panicked. “I–I saw him moving, reaching for the knife. I was afraid he’d hurt you and the Alpha… I’m sorry, miss. Did I do something wrong?”

I was so angry I could taste blood in my mouth. Grayson pulled me close and snapped at the reckless soldier, “Get the fuck out! And I never want to see you in my army ever again!”

    Tue, 2 sept

    “…I’m so sorry, Alpha…”

“Grayson, it’s I,” I turned to him hastily, grabbing his sleeve, my voice shaking. “I swear, Glen admitted it. He did all this for I,

Grayson frowned. I cut him off before he could speak. “Don’t say a word. I know you still have your doubts. So just… just bring her, here. Let us talk it out face to face. That’s all I am asking…Do this for me if you still love me.”

“What the hell are you talking about? Of course I love you! You doubt about that?” he growled.

“Then do what I say!” I shouted.

He pulled me in for a hard, rough kiss, and then ordered the soldiers in a rough voice, “Bring Lady I here. I don’t care where she is or what she’s doing. I want to see her in 15 minutes. GO!”

    “Yes, Alpha.”

The soldier ran off. My racing heart finally calmed a little. Even though Glen was dead, there were cameras everywhere in this house. I still had his words from when he was chasing me as evidence.

Soldiers and servants began cleaning up the blood and mess. Grayson sat on the couch, pulling me onto hisp, his arms tight around me. He stared into air, his face cold and terrifying.

In less than 15 minutes, the sound of high heels clicked outside. I sat up straight immediately, ready to face my enemy.

But to my surprise, it wasn’t just I who walked in.

Behind her was an army of serious–looking older people.

She brought the entire council of elders with her!

“What are these people doing here?” Grayson snapped, ring at the elders.

I blinked, looking innocent and worried. “Your soldiers found me while I was having lunch with the elders. They heard something serious had happened and came to check it out… Oh my god, what is all this blood? What happened?”

Glen’s body stilly on the floor. Grayson pulled his head up by the hair, showing his bloody face. I let out a small scream. People around gasped.

“This man tried to kill Aria. Do you know him, I?” Grayson demanded, his gray eyes locked on her.

I looked away, breathing heavily, as if she couldn’t bear to see the body. “No… I don’t think so…”

“See? You slipped up,” I said coldly. “Glen was your and Grayson’s personal guard. Even Delh said you were close. How could you not know him?…Unless you’re trying to hide something?”
