Chapter 119
Aria’s POV
+30)
A cold sweat trickled slowly down my spine.
“What’s going on? Aria? Aria!” Delh’s panicked voice called out from the phone.
Glen stepped inside and closed the door behind him, pointing the knife at me. “Hang up your phone.”
I swallowed hard and whispered a quick “Help me!” into the phone before ending the call.
“It’s you, isn’t it?” I took a step back, pressing myself against the wall. “I’s help. The shooter. The one who ruined my car’s brakes. It was all you.”
He gave me a strange, twisted smile. “You’re not as stupid as you look.”
“Why are you doing this anyway? I wants to get back to Grayson, and that’s why she wants me dead. But you are not getting anything out of this…”
“No!” he suddenly roared, his face contorted with rage. “With you dead, I can finally have the perfect Luna I’ve always wanted. The beautiful, elegant, wise, and noble woman. But look at you now. You don’t fit a single one of these requirements. I just don’t get it—how the hell did you defeat Lady I and win the Alpha’s heart?!”
I clenched my fists. “You think I meets those requirements? You are wrong! You’ve been fooled by the act she puts on! She’s a snake, Glen. A cold fucking snake! You know what happened to thest man she used? She killed him after she was done using him! Do you want to end up the same way?!”
Yet Glen simply let out a coldugh. “You are just jealous of how perfect she is. Yeah keep going. Keep trashing her. I won’t buy a single word you say. It just shows your dark, ugly soul.”
What the hell is wrong with this guy? It’s like I brainwashed him.
“I’m not trashing her, okay? I’m telling you the truth! Thest guy she used was an Alpha and even that Alpha died in her hands. How long do you think you’llst?”
Yet that wasn’t as helpful as I thought. Because Glen suddenly burst into loud, manicughter. “Good! Let her use me! My life will be much more meaningful if I can devote it to her!”
Fuck. This guy’s aplete nutcase. There’s no point reasoning with him!
In the next second, Glen let out another roar and lunged at me with that knife!
I was ready for it. My whole body was tensed for this moment. Thankfully I was small and quick, so I ducked under his arm, scrambled past him, and dove into the suite’s adjoining room. I mmed the door shut with one quick move and locked it up.
“NO! Get out here!!!” he roared from the other side.
I dove for the bedside phone and dialed the security’s number. “Guards! Send someone to my room, now! Glen is trying to kill me?”
Yet nobody answers. Only dead silence.
Damn it, where the hell is everyone?!
There’s a huge crash behind me. I spun around in terror. The heavy wooden door was knocked down clean off its hinges, Holy shit, how strong is this guy?!
Glen’s eyes were bloodshot as he charged atine with a roar. I was now trapped in the corner with nowhere to run.
In a panic, I leaped onto the bed, rolled across it, and tumbled off the other side. He reached out to grab me, only managing to rip off a chunk of my hair -goddamn that hurts!
But it bought me a brief second.
I jumped off the bed and sprinted for the main door, fumbling with the lock. He was right behind me, roaring. At the veryst second, just as his hand grabbed for me, I yanked the door open and burst out into the hallway.
“Help! Help! SOMEBODY HELP!!!”
This mansion was supposed to be crawling with Grayson’s security.
I was damn sure that if I could just get out of the room, I’d be safe.
But no one came.
The entire house was empty.
The servants, the maids, the guards that should have been stationed at every corner–they were all gone!
Where the fuck did everyone go?!
My heart hammered against my ribs as I flew down the staircase to the main entrance on the first floor, desperate to get out.
But the huge iron front door was bolted shut from the inside. I shook it with all my strength, but it didn’t budge.
BANG!
38)
A bullet hit the metal door right where my head had been. I ducked just in time.
“Give up already. No one ising for you.”
Glen’s cold voice came from the second–floor balcony. I held my breath, crouching low, and slid into the shadow of arge stone statue.
He made his way down the spiral staircase, loading his gun.
“I already cleared the whole house. The guards and soldiers are all out searching for you because I told them that you had slipped out. They all believed me since I’m their Head of Security. So…it’s just you and me here.”
Fuck
I held my breath, staying perfectly quiet and still.
He paced around the foyer for a moment, then spoke again:
“Everything will be so much easier if you can just walk out and let me kill you. You see…once you’re dead, no one will stand in Lady I’s way anymore. She will be Alpha Grayson’s wife. And give him the strongest heir. Isn’t that perfect? So why…why did you have to get in her way? WHY?!!”
1 crawled on my stomach across the floor. He fired another random shot, and I flinched.
“Come out!” he suddenly screamed, furious. “Stop hiding! Stop being a fucking problem! Come out and let me kill you!”
He kicked over a mirrored cab. Everything inside spilled out and shattered across the floor. He raised his gun and shot at the giant crystal chandelier above, sending it crashing down in a thousand pikes
My hiding spot was less than ten steps away from him. If I did nothing, he’d find me eventually.
But what else could I do? He was too strong. Even if my wolf were at her best, I’d still lose
Unless… unless I had a weapon.
I suddenly remembered a pistol kept in a drawer in the first floor living room. I’d seen Grayson put it there myself. It was close.
11:06 Mon, 1 Sept
Glen started screaming my name again, wrecking and destroying everything in his path.
I grabbed a chunk of broken brick near my feet and threw it as hard as I could in the opposite direction.
He heard the noise, spun around, and fired at the sound.
Seizing my chance, I bolted from the shadows and sprinted for the living room.
“I saw you, Aria Collins!” he roared behind me.
I made it into the living room, yanked open the drawer, and found the pistol. Thank God it was still there.
Then I quietly loaded the gun and hid behind the thick curtains. Directly opposite me was a full–wall mirror.
? . 29%–
“…Come out, you filthy, disgusting bitch! Just like all women in this world…you are all fucking disgusting! Except Lady I… only she is perfect, pure… I’ll kill everyone all of you for her!”
Glen stormed into the living room. He was facing directly toward the wall–sized mirror.
I took a deep breath, threw the curtains open, and stepped out. My reflection appeared in the mirror.
“FOUND YOU! Lady I, I did it!!!”
His face was crazy with excitement as he fired his whole gun, shooting wildly at my reflection.
It wasn’t until the entire wall of mirrors shattered in front of him that he realized his mistake.
But it was toote.
I raised my gun and fired. The bullet hit him right in the back. He roared in pain and crashed to the floor like a falling mountain. Fucking hell, even that didn’t kill him? This guy’s strong like a bull!
I tightened my grip on the pistol and walked closer, then kicked him hard in the back.
He was sprawled on the floor, blood gushing from the gunshot wounds. He looked up at me, his face pale and sweaty, but his eyes were still crazy.
“G–Go to hell, you bitch…” he gasped.
I put my foot on his chest and pointed the gun at his head. “Between you and me, clearly you’re the one who’s going to hell today. Now tell me–did I tell you to do all this?!”
He let out that weird, gurglingugh again. “No. She didn’t need to say a single word. I take care of everything for her.”
That idiot!
But I needed him to talk. He was the only proof, the only one who could show everyone what I really is.
So I made myself cold. I shot him four more times, in his arms and legs. Blood spattered. He let out a horrific, agonized scream, his whole–body shuddering on the floor.
I’ve never interrogated anyone like this. My mind went nk in the middle. The smell of blood made me sick.
But I didn’t have a choice.
“Tell me… tell me I’s role in this.”
My voice shook as I pressed my shoe into his bullet wound, watching him tremble in agony beneath my foot.
“Tell me the truth and I’ll let you live!”
