Guard 119

    Chapter 119

I stare at the male rogue, trying to gauge why he would leave.

“Danny, we’re out,” Kira says brokenly. She has tears in her eyes.

“You know it’s not that simple,” he tells her. “Alpha, I know I have no right to ask this, but please allow my sister to stay.”

“Why go back?” I ask calctingly.

“Because, Mathew will have reported that we failed to capture the white wolf. The Countess is going to try to find a way to get to us. If I leave, I

an say that Kira died due to the wounds inflicted by Mathew. They won’t look for a dead wolf,” Danial tells me.

“We’ve been known to kill rogues,” I point out. Not that I would kill him in cold blood, but it would give him an excuse to stay.

“No, as much as I want to stay, I can’t. They will being. If I go back, I can work as a spy for you in exchange for asylum for my sister,” he says, still not looking at his younger sister.

“Okay,” I tell him. “When do you want to leave?”

“I need to be out of your territory the sooner the better. I also need a fight staged as I make my escape. I have no idea if anyone is still hanging around, but if they are,” Daniel says.

“A fight we can do,” I tell him as I hold out my hand.

Daniel nods his head as he shakes my hand. Ho

    her right,” he orders.

then turns and faces James. “Take care of her. Treat

James moves and wraps an arm around Kira’s shoulders. “I will, I promise you that. Ama has already threatened me,” he says seriously as he sticks his other hand out to shake.

“Your Luna?” Daniel asks as he shakes his hand.

“Yes,” I inform him. “She fiercely protective of the mate bond.”

Daniel smiles as he nods his head. “Any information I find out, I will make sure that I pass it along.”

Kira breaks away from James and rushes to her brother. She engulfs him in a hug. “I can still go with you,” she says through her tears.

“Hey, none of that. We left so you could penitently find your mate and get away from Alpha Connix, Daniel says as he wraps his arms around her. “We ran into some trouble, but you have the chance to be free. I’ll always sacrifice myself for your freedom.” (1)

“You left behind your fated mate,” she sobs.

“Hey, Jen said she would wait for me. When this is all over, I’ll go back and find her,” Daniel tries to say in an upbeat tone.

“It’s all my fault,” Kira continues to sob.

“It’s not, and you know that,” Daniel says sternly. “I need to get moving before it gets anyter.” He let’s go of his sister.

I have a feeling that if he stays any longer, his resolve will crumble.

“No,” Kira sobs harder as she refuses to

    let

go.

Jameses up behind her and wraps his arms around her. He pulls her to himself.

“Okay, how we doing this?” Daniel asks as he takes a step away from his sister.

“Sara, Jeremy will give chase. I will then join them when they make it to the forest,” I say. My two

    warriors nod their heads.

“Best make it look like we are taking you to the pack house. This house is designed to keep a wolf

    contained,” Jeremy says.

I nod my head in acknowledgement and then look at Daniel. He gives a longing look at his sister before his posture bes ridged.

“Let’s get this over with,” Daniel says.

“I’ll inform our patrols to bring any rogue to the pack house alive. Don’t give them to hard of a time and you should be okay,” I say.

He nods his head and then starts for the door.

Jeremy and Sara bow their heads at me and then follow Daniel. I watch through the window as both Sara and Jeremy have a hold of his arms. They are forcing him into the direction of the pack house. Daniel attempts to yank his arm away but gets a punch to the stomach for his trouble.

Daniel snarls something at the rriors and allows them to continue to drag him towards the

house. They get ready to round a corner when it happens. Daniel throws his arm back and elbows Jeremy in the throat, cutting off the oxygen. Jeremy lets go. With one arm free, he grabs Sara and throws her against the side of a building.

A pack member sees and lets out a scream. “Rogue loose!” the woman screams.

I don’t waste any time as I move from my spot. I practically fly from the house in pursuit. I am

pursuing sooner than I wanted to. But I can’t let pack members feel endangered.

Daniel turns to look a me. He shifts and then takes off. His wolf is fast, faster than I thought he would be. His brown coloring helps him blend into the undergrowth of the forest once we enter.

Zviad takes control and we shift to give chase. We lose sight of him pretty quickly. Sara has joined me as I search for Daniel’s scent. Zviad sniffs and then takes off towards the north. I catch sight of

Daniel as he flees from us.

There is a crashing sound as Jeremy and two otherse up from behind us. The five of us continue

    to chase Daniel.

Daniel is a quick and slippery bastard as he continues to evade us. I’m really d that he is not an enemy as we chase him.

All too soon, we are at our border. Daniel’s scent leads right over it and does note back.

‘We can still capture him,‘ Sara’s wolf growls as she looks at me and then the border.

‘Sara, Jeremy, try and capture him. But stay close to the border. If he goes to far, let him go,‘ I order.

The pair nod their heads before they dart over the border and disappear.

‘Should have sent someone else,‘ one of the wolf’s say that had joined to help.

‘I trust that they will get the job done,‘ I growl as I start to make my way back home.

‘Maybe we don’t trust you to get the job done,‘ the same wolf growls at me.

Zviad turns on him and growls, ‘What did you just say?‘

‘We don’t trust you to be our Alpha,‘ he says as he snaps his jaws at us.
