To protect what’s mine
Chapter 118 Calyx
“You good?
I ask Markus through the mind link as not to disturb Rose and our mate. Sam had roused me out of my thoughts, letting me know he was here.
‘Go,” Mark says as he tightens his hold on Ama as I unwrap from her.I get up and pull theforter up so that way Rose and Ama won’t be cold. I ce a kiss on both Rose and Ama’s forehead. Rose cracks an eye open at me before she snuggles back down against her mother.
“No kiss for me?‘ Mark asks with a straight face.
I resist the urge to smack my twin. Smacking him, may wake Ama up. I settle for ring at him as I
leave the room.
“What did you find out?” I ask Sam as he sits at the dining room table with Uncle Michael.
“Unfortunately, nothing,” Sam sighs as he takes a drink of his water.
“I need something stronger,” I sigh in frustration as I sit at the table.
“Alcohol sounds great right now,” James growls as hees storming through the house.
“What did you both find out?” I ask again.
“No one remembers anything,” James growls as he sits way more aggressively than needed. “I asked them. All three women remember nothing from when we left. I even ordered the truth out of them. All they remember is Ama rushing us out and then the next guard shift came downstairs. They didn’t even notice that their mates and Molly were missing until the warriors on duty noticed.”
“I went over the recording and there is nothing.” Sam sighs. “From the moment we enter the basement to the moment when James went back downstairs, all the data is corrupted. It glitches and wigs out the whole time.”
“Can any of it be salvaged?” Uncle Michael asks.
“Maybe, we would have to send it to somebody who understands technology and recovery better than I do,” Sam replies.“That would mean involving humans or another pack,”
I growl in frustration.
“What about asking Kira if she knows anything?” Uncle Michael asks.
“I will go talk with her,” James says as he stands up.
“I’ll go with, I have a few questions,” I say as I stand up.
Chapter 118 Calyx
I follow James to towards a holding house. The house was designed to keep wolves contained, it’s nicer than putting someone in the dungeon basement, but just as secure. This way they would also be away from the pack house and away from the heart of the pack.
“Has she left the house?” I ask,
“No, and neither has Daniel,” James tells me. “The two have been waiting at the house since I brought them therest night. The two warriors have been patrolling and reporting in hourly.”
I nod my head. I had forgotten that the two rogues had been moved to one of the secure houses. James turns down a side street to lead me towards the edge of the pack. Within a few minutes we are at the secure house. I let James take the lead.
We are about to talk with his mate. James takes a nervous breath to steel himself. He then knocks on
the door.
Jeremy opens the door to us. He is on the shorter sidepared to most warriors, but he is built like a fridge. “Alpha, Beta, Jeremy says, his voice gruff, as he opens the door farther to let us in.
“Please tell me whoever ising to relieve you both is more fun!” Kira shouts from somewhere in
the house.
“We are doing our job,”es Sara’s reply. I think that it is Sara, but I could be wrong.
“You could talk to us or y Uno,” Kira snarks back.
“Sorry, but not here to y Uno,” James says awkwardly as he walks into the living room.
“Is he the broody one or the fun one?” Kira asks as she points a finger at me. I don’t know if I should be insulted or impressed by the girl.,1 settle on frowning at her; it seems better than scowling. “The broody one,” Kira smirks at me.
“Goddess, you are going to get us killed or kicked out of the pack,” Daniel moans into the book he had been reading on the couch.
Her smirk takes on a predatory look. She knows that we won’t just kick her out and we won’t risk killing her. Kira raises an eyebrow in a challenge.
“I need a drink,” I growl. I never did get any alcohol before we left toe here.
“Well, we have water or milk,” Kira smirks at me.
“Finished the milk earlier,” Jeremy says as he enters the living room.
“We have water,” Kiraughs.
Chapter 118 Calyx
I roll my eyes at her. “We have a few questions,” I say.
“Shoot,” Kira says as she flops onto the couch. She is trying to appear confident, but there are cracks in her fa?ade.
“Could a witch disrupt security footage?” James asks.
“Yes,” Daniel says as he puts down his book to look at us.
“Totally do able for any low–level witch,” Kira says as she nods her head.
“What about taking werewolves that are being held behind silver without others noticing?” I ask.
“Silver doesn’t affect them as it does us,” Daniel says as he fixes us with a hard stare.
“What happened?” Kira demands.
I try not to bristle at the order for information. She can help, I can’t get mad at her.
“We had went to talk with some prisoners about the Luna. We left and not even five minutester, three out of the six were gone with the remaining three non the wiser,” James answers.
“The three remaining had no idea that the others had gone missing?” Jeremy asks.
T
“What we talk about here, does not leave this house,” I order. “Leaking this information could endanger the Luna.”
“Your Luna, she is the white wolf, correct?” Daniel asks for rification.
I have no doubt he remembers Ama.“Yes, she is, I answer with a growl.
Sara lets out a whistle. “She is a white wolf? I thought that they were just a myth,” she says in
disbelief.
“Hold up, witches? Alpha, you are not serious?” Jeremy asks.
“Unfortunately, yes. Witches are hunting our Luna and she is a white wolf,” James answers for me.
“The Countess is getting desperate,” Kira says quietly.
“Does she have a time frame?” ask simply.
“You think that if she is getting desperate, she is on a timetable,” James says with a smirk directed
at me.
“If we can wait the witch out…” I say
to the group.

“That could work for your pack and Kira,” Daniel says. “I don’t have the time.”
“Danny,” Kira says.
“You’re staying here while I go back,” he tells his sister.
