To protect what’s mine
Chapter 117 Amalie
My father is missing. How in the name of the goddess is that possible? In a matter of a few minutes) he, the former Gamma, and the Gamma’s daughter all go missing. It should not be possible.
My mates and my friends turn to look at me. Shock is painted across all our faces. I know what they want to know. They want to know how I knew something was going to happen. But I don’t know, Beren was the one who knew something was going to happen, not me.
“Love?” Cal asks me.
“I don’t know,” I hiss defensively.
“We did not say anything,” Mark tries to sooth.
“Greg, is everyone else still down there?” Mark asks the warrior that had informed us of the missing
prisoners.
“Yes Alpha,” the now named warrior, Greg, answers.
“Make sure that there is a guard down in the basement at all times. I don’t want anyone else to go missing,” Mark orders out with a growl.
“We will figure this out,” Cal growls in dismissal.
Greg nods his head before he leaves us.
“What in the name of the goddess just happened?” James asks in confusion.
“I don’t know, but we will get to the bottom of what happened,” Mark agrees. “James-”
“I’ll go question those that are still down there,” James says as he knows what his Alpha is going to
ask.
“Thank you,” Mark tells him.
“I’ll fill you in on what I find out,” he says as he nods his head before he takes off back towards the
basement..
“Sam-” Cal starts as he turns towards the Gamma.
“I’ll review the security footage and see what it yields,” Sam says as he nods his head.
“We’ll meet you at Uncle Michael’ster,” Cal says.
“I’ll be there after I review all the camera angles and go over what everyone said,” Sam says as he

leaves as well.
“What are we going to do?” I ask as I push my uncertainty away.
“We are going to go home and check on Rose. Once we make sure that she is fine, we are going to talk about what happened,” Mark tells me,
I nod my head. Holding and making sure Rose is okay, sounds like a good n. My mates lead me from the pack house. I’m really starting to hate this numb feeling that keeps creeping into me at
different times.
Being numb and uncertain is starting to make me mad.
Why did my freedom have toe with so manyplications? Freedom should have been simple. No more sister yelling at me and ps out of nowhere. No more parents trying to beat me with silver. I was not supposed to have to watch over my shoulder to keep myself and Rose safe. I was supposed to have peace with my pup. Finding my mates was supposed to be a bonus.
But freedom seems like an illusion, like I was never supposed to have it.
Why does everyone else get peace and I don’t! I want to scream at how unfair everything is.
“Ama?” Mark asks as he brings me out of my thoughts.
“What?” I ask sharply. The hostility in my tone surprises me. “Sorry,” I apologize, “what did you
want?”
“Are you okay?” he asks as he takes a hold of my and and rubs my knuckles.
“No,” I say as I suck in a breath. “Something happened down there, and I have no idea what.”
“We’ll figure it out,” Cal whispers as he wraps his arms around me.
I break in the embrace. Something in my chest cracks and I can’t stop it. I start to cry. Cal tries to sooth me, but I just cry harder. It’s not fair. It’s not fair. It’s not fair!
“I know love,” Cal says as he tries to sooth as he wraps his arms tighter.
I did not realize that I had said that out loud. I feel Mark behind me. He snakes his arms around my waist so that way I wrapped by niy mates and surrounded by them. I cry harder.
“I’m sorry I am such a mess and soplicated. You deserve someone who is uplicated,” I sob
in Cal’s chest.
Mark lets out augh that shakes me. “Darling, we would take no one else. Complicated makes everything more interesting. The goddess knew that it would take two of us to keep up with you,” he

says.
“I’m sorry.” I apologize with a wetugh.
“You have nothing to apologize for,” Cal says as he ces a kiss on my hair.
Mark unwraps his arms, Cal then sweeps me into his arms. He carries me bridal style back home. I sink into his embrace and close my eyes. It’s quiet on the rest of the journey home. I listen to Cal’s heartbeat, letting it sooth me. I feel Cal carry me up the steps.
“You’re back earlier than I thought you’d be,” Uncle Mikeughs as he wheels himself towards us.
“Complications arose,” Cal says as he carries me towards our room.
Mark starts to say something, but Cal carries me out of ear shot much to quickly. Cal nudges the door open to our room. He adjusts his grip on me so he can pull down theforter. Cal sets me down on the bed.
I curl up on my side and Calys down in front of me. “I hate how weak I feel,” I say as I rub a tear from my eye. I then shut my eyes to block everything out.
“Love, there are different kinds of strengths,” Cal says as he tries tofort me.
“If you say that I am strong for not breaking because of my parents, I may hit you and ignore you,” I growl in frustration. I hate how weak I have been.
Goddess my mood swings are horrible. I have no idea why I am swinging from one extreme to the other right now.
Cal actually chuckles at me. “Fine, but you are strong for surviving them,” he says, I can still hear the humor in his voice.
“Mommy!” Rose shouts as shees into the room.
I open my eyes to see my other mate bring my pup to me. He sets her down on the bed and she crawls over me. She settles herself down between me and Cal. Mark thenys down on the bed behind me, I feel his arms wrap around my waist.
“You doing better?” Mark whispers to me.
“Getting there,” I say to him.
