“Looks like I went too easy on you. You’ve still got energy left.”


    With that, Aurora resumed her attacks.


    In the end, it was Desmond by the door who couldn’t help but speak. “Isn’t Joseph about to pass out by now…?”


    He wasn’t entirely sure, but seeing Joseph lying on the floor with his eyes rolled back, he actually felt a little bad.


    Being a man really wasn’t easy.


    He couldn’t even say a word after getting beaten to this extent.


    No, actually, it looked like he couldn’t speak at all


    Desmond nced at Lucas beside him and found that he was calmly watching Aurora, even with a hint of admiration in his eyes.

    Aurora caught sight of Lucas‘ faintly amused expression and froze.

    Why did Lucas have to show up now, of all times, and catch her in the act of beating up Joseph?

    Aurora quickly withdrew her foot and awkwardly ran over to Lucas, wanting to say something but not knowing where to begin.


    Lucas, ever understanding, simply reached out and took her hand.


    “That looked exhausting. Tired from all the hitting?”


    Desmond and the half–unconscious Joseph were speechless.


    Neither of them expected Lucas to be so shameless.


    More than that, he could actually ask that with a straight face.


    Aurora didn’t even know how to respond. “Um, taicas, I can exin. I only came here to talk about work. But he…”


    She trailed off, unsure how to finish.


    She couldn’t exactly say she beat him up because he couldn’t keep his hands to himself.


    But Lucas simply smiled and shook his head, clearly in a good mood. “It’s fine. I trust you. You don’t need to exin anything.


    “I was here for a business meeting. Then I happened <i>to </i>spot you through the gap in the railing outside. That’s why I got a little anxious.”


    At the words “a little anxious,” Desmond’s eyes went wide.


    He couldn’t help ncing at the door that had been kicked in–it nowy on the floor in pieces.


    When the two of them passed by the private room earlier, they had seen Joseph acting all


    arrogant.


    At first, Lucas hadn’t paid it much attention.


    As long as it didn’t involve Aurora, he rarely got involved.


    But the moment he heard her voice–sharp and clearly out of the ordinary- Lucas immediately turned back and rushed to the room


    And once he saw Aurora’s face and confirmed it was her, everything about him changed, especially when he noticed she was in a disadvantageous position.


    He didn’t hesitate, just kicked the door open without a word.


    The rest unfolded exactly as they’d witnessed.


    Desmond was pretty sure that if Aurora hadn’t beaten Joseph so viciously, he would’ve ended up in much worse shape.


    After all, the difference in strength between Aurora and Lucas was pretty clear.


    In his heart, Desmond lit a silent candle for Joseph.


    But Aurora didn’t doubt Lucas‘ words at all.


    They’d spent enough time together now to haveplete trust in each other.
