Shattered 57

Without any more hesitation, she turned to leave, but her steps suddenly halted.

The anger in her eyes turned into panic.

    “Grandma.”

    Her voice suddenly turned hoarse.

How long had Bonnie been standing there? How much had she heard?

“Ci.” Bonnie reached out with a trembling hand. “Come here.”

Prisci ran over in big strides. “Grandma, I…”

“Ci, let’s go home, let’s go home.” Bonnie gripped her granddaughter’s hand tightly, her steps hurried and unsteady.

The next second, she copsed to the ground.

    “Grandma!”

    At the hospital.

Bonnie was rushed into the emergency room.

Prisci sat in daze on a chair and her fingers twisted so tightly that they turned white.

    She was filled with regret.

Why did she have to argue at the Wilburn’s mansion?

Why did she have to argue on Bonnie’s birthday?

Why couldn’t she just hold it in?

After signing the critical condition notice, Dillon turned and walked up to Prisci, raising his hand and bringing it down hard.

The p was stopped by Wesley who warned in his tone, “Dad.”

Dillon let go, cursing harshly, “What exactly do you want?”

“What does this family make you so dissatisfied?”

“What have we ever done to you? Will you only be satisfied when you drive me to my grave?”

Tania quickly patted his back and med Prisci, “Prisci, your grandmother raised you, you should at least show some filial piety. What if something happens to her because you made her angry?”

They all believed it was Prisci who had caused Bonnie to copse.

One usation after another, relentless scolding.

Prisci remained motionless and offered no exnation, only staring at the emergency room.

She prayed to God, wishing she could give her own life to Bonnie.

“Enough.” Wesley shielded Prisci with one arm to separate her from Dillon and his wife. “Prisci is already very upset.”

As he spoke, his sharp and icy gaze turned to ude. “It wasn’t Prisci who made Grandma copse, it was ude.”

ude stuck out his neck and shouted, “I didn’t say anything wrong.”

“ude, that’s enough.” Larissa scolded tactless ude in a lov

Anyone could see that Wesley was very angry now.

Larissa, as a woman, understood that Wesley was regretting stopping Prisci earlier.

    Prisci….

She couldn’t help but nce over at Prisci.

Back then, when she ran away from her arranged marriage, her parents couldn’t bear to lose the alliance with the Carlton family, so they begged her to ask Wesley to agree to marry Prisci.

She did as they asked and sessfully persuaded Wesley.

Such an ill–matched marriage–Wesley had held on for three years, but ended up developing feelings for Prisci.

Her heart was in a tangled mess.

The door to the emergency room opened.

Bonnie was wheeled out by the doctor.

“It was a close call.” The doctor removed his mask and looked around at everyone. “The patient is elderly, so try not to let her get agitated again.”

    “Thank

you. “Prisci stood before the doctor and bowed deeply with utmost respect. “Thank you for saving my grandmother.”

The doctor quickly stepped aside and felt unworthy of such a grand gesture from Mrs. Carlton.

Prisci hurried after them to the ward.

Late at night, she sat by the hospital bed, holding Bonnie’s hand and

    refused to leave

Wesley brought her ate–night snack, coaxing her softly to cat something.

Prisci’s entire attention was on Bonnie. She refused to look at Wesley or say a single word to him.

Wesley’s eyes were dark and his voice was hoarse. “Prisci, I didn’t mean to stop you. I thought you…”

He couldn’t go on. The damage was done, and saying more was pointless.

At this moment, her face was still a bit swollen and red.

“I brought some ointment. Let me apply it for you, okay?”

Wesley took out the ointment, dabbed a little on his fingertip, and reached out to touch his wife’s cheek.

Prisci avoided him, with her long hair covering half her face.

    “Don’t touch me.”

    She was utterly disgusted.

Wesley gently brushed her hair, speaking softly, “I know you hate me, but your face needs to be treated.”

Prisci replied coolly, “No need to trouble Mr. Carlton.”

She called him ‘Mr. Carlton‘, drawing a clear line between them.

    “Prisci.”

“Wesley, Grandma needs to rest. Can you leave?” Prisci cut him off.

Wesley looked at the elderly woman who was still unconscious in the hospital bed and the rest of his words died in his throat.

“Alright, I’ll go.” Hepromised. “You haven’t eaten much tonight…”

“I said, go away.” Prisci’s irritation reached its peak.

    A p followed by a sweet date…

    She was utterly fed up.

Wesley was silent for a few seconds, then said, “I’ll be right outside. Call me if you need anything.”
