Shattered 41

    Why?

A faint resentment rose in Larissa’s heart, and she couldn’t help but say her innermost thoughts: “Why did Prisci have toe at this moment?”

Seeing her here, why couldn’t Priscie a littleter?

Wesley heard Larissa’sint. He frowned, his brows sharp. “Larissa, she’s a perfumer too. When shees to Sir Livingston’s banquet is up to her.”

Larissa shrank her shoulders and her eyes misted over. “I didn’t mean. anything by it, I just… just…”

    She choked up a little.

“Maybe I’m really not as good as Prisci,” Larissa said, looking enviously at Prisci who was chatting happily with Rafael not far

    away.

Beneath her envy, there was also unwillingness and a trace of jealousy.

“You are both perfumers, but each of you has your own strengths,” Wesleyforted her.

Larissa gave a bitter smile but she was notforted.

Because as Wesley tried tofort her, his gaze was fixed on Prisci.

She saw admiration and affection in his eyes.

Wesley felt very conflicted. He knew Prisci was talented in

perfumery, otherwise, there would be no Holiday Series perfume.

But he had always thought she couldn’tpare to Larissa. After all, Larissa was trained by the world’s top perfumer Catherine, while all of Prisci’s knowledge came from her own study of books.

But today, Prisci had truly opened his eyes.

His wife had won the favor of the highly respected Rafael, and when talking with Rafael, she was poised and confident.

    This was his wife…

    Wesley felt genuinely proud.

    Wesley walked over

Tonight, Prisci was in a very good mood.

She never looked down on herself for not having formal training in perfumery but receiving recognition and praise from her seniors was a different kind of affirmation.

She reflected inwardly that during her three years at the Carlton Group, she had always tried not to cause Wesley any trouble, so she kept a low profile and rarely participated in industry events.

Looking back now, it truly was a great loss.

    Fortunately, it’s not toote.

“Sir Livingston is in a good mood today.” Wesley sat down calmly. His elbow brushed against Prisci’s.

They looked just like a couple deeply in love.

Prisci quietly pulled her elbow back a little.

Eldridge had always been quiet, but now, seeing Wesley, he smiled. slightly and said, “Mr. Carlton, what brings you over here? Aren’t you going to look after Ms. Wilburn?”

Wesley always kept his emotions hidden in public, especially with Rafael present.

He draped his arm over the back of the sofa, as if pulling Prisci into his embrace.

“Prisci is my wife. Naturally, I should be here with her.

    Prisci maintained a polite smile.

Rafael nced at Eldridge beside him, then looked cheerfully at the couple across from him. “Mr. Carlton and Ms. Wilburn are so devoted to each other–it’s enviable.”

Having lived most of his life, he could see at a nce how Wesley felt about Prisci

It was different from how he treated others.

A more genuine smile appeared on Wesley’s face.

Prisci changed the subject to discuss perfume with Rafael. Eldridge asionally chimed in, and the three of them enjoyed a lively conversation.

Wesley didn’t know much about the industry, but he didn’t feel awkward. He idly twirled a strand of Prisci’s long hair around his finger, lookingpletely at ease.

Later, Sir Livingston became even more enthusiastic and invited Prisci to see his collection.

    Prisci dly epted.

Wesley and Eldridge were left sitting together.

Eldridge spoke calmly: “You should divorce her.”

News of Wesley and Prisci’s marital troubles had long spread, but Wesley always put on a show of marital bliss in public, making the rumors seem true yet false.

But after getting to know Prisci, Eldridge realized their marriage was already over.

A faint air of dominance appeared on Wesley’s handsome features. “My rtionship with Prisci is not for outsiders to meddle in.”

    Eldridge was that outsider.

Beneath Eldridge’s gentle demeanor was a hint of anger. “It’s a tragedy for her to have a husband like you.“.

The first time he met Prisci, he couldn’t imagine how a woman with such sorrow in her eyes could create a kind of perfume as spirited as the Holiday Series.

Later, he learned it was because of her unhappy marriage–those trivial matters had worn down her spirit.

Fortunately, at their second meeting, she had already moved on.

But what about next time, or the time after that? Would she still be able to pull herself out on her own?

Eldridge hoped Prisci would get a divorce.

Wesley’s thin lips curled into a sneer, full of contempt. “Prisci and have been married for three years. That’s not something Mr. Livingsto. can destroy with a few words.”

“But Mr. Carlton, your self–righteous marriage is draining her spirit
