Wesley’s heart skipped a beat; he sensed she wasn’t heading back to the bedroom.
He chased after her and grabbed her wrist. “Where are you going?”
Prisci shook off his hand and said coldly, “Of course I’m leaving here.”
If she couldn’t take the books, then she would just leave them for now. In any case, she didn’t want to stay here for another second.
Anywhere he was felt suffocating.
“Prisci Wilburn.”
Wesley called her by her full name, his eyes were stormy with dark clouds.
There was something he was holding back again and again.
“I’m leaving. “He flung her hand away and strode out.
Prisci watched his car leave through the window.
Her feelings were extremelyplicated, but she still didn’t want to stay here.
The servants blocked her path cautiously.
“Sir said if you leave, we’ll all be fired. Please, don’t make things difficult for us.”
Prisci was frustrated, but she didn’t make things hard for the servants
She returned to her room.
The next time Prisci saw Wesley was when she and Eldridge attended the farewell banquet for industry veteran Rafael Livingston.
Rafael was already eighty years old this year, and he utilized his birthday to announce his official retirement from the perfume industry.
Prisci had received the invitation long ago.
Wesley, apanied by Larissa, was talking with Rafael.
Eldridge noticed as well and asked if she wanted to wait a bit before going over.
Prisci shook her head gently. It would be rude not to greet the host right away, and besides, she had nothing to feel guilty about–there was no need to hide.
She took Eldridge’s arm and walked forward.
Wesley and Larissa both saw her. Larissa bit her lip and quietly withdrew her hand from Wesley’s arm.
Wesley, on the other hand, stared darkly at Prisci’s hand resting in the crook of Eldridge’s arm.
Prisci ignored himpletely and smiled as she greeted Rafael. “Sir Livingston, hello, I’m Prisci.”
Although Rafael was a highly respected senior in the field, he was especially kind.
“Ms. Wilburn, your reputation precedes you. Very impressive.”
Prisci smiled modestly, politely expressing her humility.
But in her heart, she was delighted. Apliment from Rafael was a proof of her abilities.
Larissa bit her lip lightly. “Sir Livingston, my mentor Catherine
Bowen had urgent matters and couldn’te in person, so she asked me to bring a gift on her behalf.”
Immediately, someone brought over a tray with a delicate ss box on it, inside which was a bottle of perfume.
Catherine was a world–renowned perfumer; any perfume she sent was not an ordinary gift.
Everyone looked at Larissa with envy and admiration.
To be Catherine’s apprentice was proof enough of Larissa’s exceptional talent in perfumery.
Larissa curved her lips slightly and her tone was gentle and respectful. “This is my teacher’stest creation. Please, Sir Livingston, appreciate it.”
The crowd held their breath, gazing at the perfume bottle in fascination. To smell Catherine’s newest work was a privilege.
Rafael nodded. “Open it.”
Larissa personally opened the ss box, carefully took out the perfume bottle, and removed the cap.
A rich fragrance gradually filled the air, making everyone feel as if they were in avish and opulent hall.
“This is a concentrated perfume essence, so the scent is a bit strong.” Larissa exined, putting the cap back on and setting it down again.
She looked to Rafael expectantly. “Sir Livingston, what do you think?“.
Sir Livingston chuckled and said, “Not bad.”
Larissa was delighted and was about to speak, but Rafael had already turned to Prisci. “Ms. Wilburn, the scent on you seems to be peony, right?”
Prisci nodded. “Yes, it’s peony.”
She rarely wore perfume, but for such a grand asion, she had chosen to use it today.
Peony had always been a symbol of elegance and nobility, its fragrance. was rich and full.
Compared to Catherine’s perfume, the scent Prisci wore was more refined.
“It’s truly wonderful. Ms. Wilburn, if you don’t mind, could you give me a bottle?”
He asked for it personally.
Prisci was ttered. “If you like it. Sir Livingston, I’ll send it to you as soon as possible.”
“Come over here and have a seat,” Rafael said.
Prisci went to the nearby lounge area.
With just a few words, it was clear to everyone that Sir Livingston valued Prisci highly, while he was much less enthusiastic toward Larissa, Catherine’s apprentice.
Regarding Catherine’s perfume, he said nothing more than “not bad.”
Chapleado
Larissa’s eyes reddened, she felt humiliated.
She hade specially today and brought her teacher’s gift. With Wesley’spany. She thought she would win Sir Livingston’s favor.
But as soon as Prisci arrived, she easily won Sir Livingston’s appreciation.
The gift she had prepared so carefully couldn’tpare to the little bit of perfume Prisci wore.
