Chapter39

The feelings between them had long since been worn away.

If one day Wesley suddenly decided to divorce her, she would still have to go on living.

Relying on a man was never as reliable as relying on herself.

Wesley’s fingers paused on his knee. “You can go back to work.”

Prisci chuckled softly and turned to look at Wesley seriously. “And what about Larissa?”

“You can take the position of deputy director,” Wesley said indifferently.

He thought this arrangement was perfect. “Larissa can handle R&D. and you can have a nominal position. If you don’t want to go in, you can take a break.”

    in

Prisciughed exasperation. In Wesley’s eyes, her desire to work was just to kill time, not out of a love for perfume.

“I’ve already made an agreement with Eldridge.” She rejected Wesley’s arrangement.

She was unwilling and had no intention of staying beneath Larissa.

“Eldridge has a deep understanding of perfume.”

“Although we’ve only met twice, he is already someone I consider as a kindred spirit.”

When Prisci mentioned Eldridge, her tone softened noticeably. And

she used the words ‘kindred spirit,‘ showing just how highly she regarded and liked him.

Wesley’s anger red even more, with his eyes turning icy and sharp

He disliked her coldness toward him, yet she admired another man much.

He pulled her into his arms. His brows arched, and his somber eyes calmed as if before a storm.

“I said. I don’t agree. Either stay home and be a wealthy wife, or go to help Larissa.”

Prisci felt a heavy blockage in her chest and met Wesley’s gaze coldly. “Wesley, it is my own choice about where I work. You have no right to interfere.”

Wesley’s gaze was deep and his thin lips almost touched her soft cheek. “I’m your husband. I have no right?”

Prisci met his eyes without flinching anda mocking smile appeared on her lips. “You couldn’t even protect your own child. What right do you have?”

The atmosphere in the car was tense and hostile.

The child was a knife wedged between Prisci and Wesley

If the de turned left, it stabbed Prisci.

If the de turned right, it pierced Wesley

In either way, both were left bleeding, and neither could find peace.

On the way back to Chaston Vi, neither of them spoke again.

    Chapter34

Prisci went upstairs to the study.

By the time Wesley came in. she had already finished packing all her books.

Those books, all professional ones on perfumery, filled tworge boxes. “Why are you packing up?” he asked.

Prisci closed the box, with her cold expression. “I’ve already found a ce to live and n to move out.”

She had nned to move out for a long time.

But she hadn’t found a suitable ce, and then she sprained her ankle, so it was dyed.

Now she had a ce and a job, so there was no need to stay here any longer.

Separating from Wesley was her wish.

Prisci called for the servants toe upstairs and move her things.

As soon as the servants reached the doorway, they were shouted away by Wesley.

    “Get out.”

The servants were startled and looked at Prisci.

Prisci said calmly, “You may go.”

Wesley was angry because of her; it wouldn’t be right to involve

    others.

Still, the two of them needed to have a calm conversation.

“Wesley, we need to calm down,” she said evenly.

Perhaps taking some time apart would allow them to re–examine their rtionship.

Wesley’s eyes darkened. “Do you want to move out, or see Eldridge?”

Prisci lowered her gaze to the books in the box.

She had read each one carefully.

She had gained a wealth of knowledge from these books, and she couldn’t give up her passion for perfume..

    “Both,” Prisci answered honestly.

She had met like–minded people, found a new job, and was leaving Wesley…

These three things did not conflict with each other.

Wesley’s eyes were tinged with red.

Since she was discharged from the hospital, their interactions had been pleasant enough; he hade home almost every day to have dinner

    with her.

Of course, there were also sweet moments between husband and wifete at night.

She had cooperated, amodated, and even taken the initiative.

He thought they had already reconciled.

All of Wesley’s tenderness turned to anger. He said coldly, “Back when you were at thepany, you signed a confidentiality agreement. For three years after resigning, you’re not allowed to do the same type of work.”

Prisci was stunned. “You’re threatening me with this?”

    He was shameless.

Wesley said, “I’m just telling you the facts, so you don’t end up being held responsible after signing a contract.”

Prisci didn’t want to say another word. She closed the box without looking at Wesley again, and turned to leave.
