She sat back down, heart heavy. The dinner on the table looked yummy, but she didn’t feel like eating.
After a while, she ran her hand over her arm.
It was still cold, even though it was June.
“Mrs. Carlton,” the maid said, bringing over a nket. “Mr. Carlton says you gotta stay warm.”
Prisci looked down, hershes damp with tears.
Wesley had kicked her out of thepany for Larissa.
He took away her baby, and now he was giving away something else she worked so hard for.
He was really heartless!
“Mrs. Carlton, are you okay?” The maid was startled when she saw the tears on Prisci’s face. She didn’t get it. If Wesley cared so much about Prisci, why was she still so sad?
“Yeah. You guys go ahead and tidy up.” Prisci pulled the nket tighter around herself. She then shuffled back to her room, feeling worn out.
More than an hourter, her phone started ringing like crazy, with messages pouring in.
They were all about Larissa joining the R&D Department.
It took Prisci a bit to figure out that Wesley had said Larissa would be in charge of R&D for now.
The whole department was surprised by this new boss showing up out of nowhere, and everyone was guessing if thepany was making some big move.
Prisci sent a message in the group chat: “Gonna quit soon.”
She was getting divorced, so she’d quit her job anyway. This was just speeding things up.
After she wrote her resignation letter on her phone and sent it to HR, she turned her phone to silent to block out all the noise.
The next day.
In the office on the top floor at the Carlton Group.
The HR director, wiping sweat off his forehead, showed Wesley the resignation letter Prisci had sentst night.
Wesley’s face was hard to read, but he was ticked off inside. He thought, “Is she trying to threaten me with this letter?

“Does she think the perfume project will fall apart without her?
“What a silly move!”
The HR director asked nervously, “What do we do, Mr. Carlton?”
Everyone in thepany knew that Prisci was Wesley’s wife and the key person in the R&D Department.
With her leaving, he didn’t dare make any decisions on his own.
“Get it done,” Wesley said, his tone t.
He wasn’t about to give in to Prisci’s attitude.
“Who’s taking the director spot then?” the HR director asked again.
“Larissa.”
“Understood.”
After a night’s sleep, Prisci woke up to see that her resignation had been approved.
Wrapped in a nket, she sat on the bed, staring at her phone for what felt like ages before finally snapping out of it.
Wesley had agreed to let her go.
That was great.
But she felt a chill inside like never before.
She texted her team, asking them to pack up her stuff and saying she’d pick it up when she could.
But they told her that Wesley said she had toe get them herself. Nobody could touch her things.
So, she had to get dressed, put on some makeup, and drive to thepany.
The Carlton Group was in a bunch of different businesses. The perfume part had always been kind of so-so until Prisci came along andunched the Holiday Series. That was when things started to take off.
Now that she was leaving, everyone in the R&D Department was confused.
They didn’t understand why Wesley would rece a dedicated veteran like her with some no-name neer.
The whole department was feeling pretty down.
Prisci smiled a little. “Hope you all do great in the future.”
“Ms. Wilburn,” someone said, sounding sad to see her go. “Are you really leaving?”
Prisci nodded softly. “Yeah.”
“But your perfume series isn’t done yet.”

It was such a cool series, and it was hard to tell if it would keep going without her.
