“Enough, Prisci.” Wesley grabbed her hand. “Let’s go.”
She shook his hand away. Since they were having a fallout, what was the point of holding back?
Looking at him, she asked, “Do you know why I was out there that night?”
He frowned. He had had Everett Vaughan-his assistant-look into it, but all he knew was she drove out. Was there any- thing he wasn’t aware of?
Seeing the look on his face, she knew he hadn’t looked into it enough.
Her heart ached, but she no longer cared.
She said word by word, “Someone called me, telling me you were in an ident. I got kidnapped on the way to the hospital.”
He froze. She had been kidnapped?
Howe she told him this only now? It had been days since the incident.
Howe Everett knew nothing about it?
“You liar.” ude rolled his eyes with disdain. “If you were kidnapped, how did you get out?”
Prisci took a deep breath before barely holding back her tears. “I called all of you so many times, but none of you picked up. Then the kidnappers tried to rape me. My baby protected me.”
She gently ced a hand on her abdomen, as if she could still feel the baby inside.
“They kicked me, and then I started to bleed. So, they just dumped me on the side of the road.”
If it weren’t for her baby, she would have been raped already.
It was her baby-not anyone else-who saved her.
“As for you-what were you doing back then? You were celebrating Larissa’s birthday for her!” As she said, she could- n’t help but get worked up.
“You were singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Larissa when my baby died!”
And now, they actually used her of picking on Larissa?
“What did that have to do with Larissa? She didn’t want this to happen.” ude found Prisci so unreasonable. It was so unfair that she wanted Larissa to take the me.

Prisci sneered, “You wanna say she’s never done anything wrong again? What about my baby? What did my baby do wrong?”
“I’m so sorry, Prisci. I didn’t want this to happen,” Larissa apologized, crying miserably.
Her tears and apology sickened Prisci, who turned to leave the suffocating ce.
Outside the door, she noticed Wesley behind her.
She had already calmed down. Only the tear stains on her cheeks gave her away.
“You don’t have to leave,” she said coldly.
He took her hand, his eyes filled with unreadable emotions. “I bought a gown beforeing here today. Take it and apologize to Larissa.”
She stared at him icily. Then she pulled her hand away and took a step back. “Wesley, you’re a man. Be like one.”
His gaze darkened a little.
“If you wanna take care of her, just divorce me and marry her.” The sarcasm in her gaze was unmistakable.
“How many times do I have to tell you? Larissa and I are just friends.” His expression darkened to the utmost as he clutched her wrist and pulled her into the car. “Besides, you embarrassed her in front of so many people for a gown. You should apologize to her.
“About the ident… I’ll get to the bottom of it and make things right for you and our baby. But don’t forget-what happened to you had nothing to do with Larissa.”
Prisci rubbed her reddened wrist, tears streaming down her cheeks.
He was right. Larissa wasn’t to me for the kidnapping or the miscarriage.
But he had spent the past month with Larissa and even rejected her calls for help, finding her annoying. Such cruel facts haunted her, cutting her deep.
She hated both Wesley and Larissa.
On the way back, neither spoke.
After arriving at Chaston Vi, Prisci went upstairs to sleep.
Waking up, she felt slightly better.
