Anneliese almostughed, but Zacharias did not share her glee. He was as ck as thunder. His voice was low, rough, and full of anger as he called her name.
“Anneliese!”
Seeing the cold, sharp edge at the corner of her lips, he quickly forced down his rage and tried to exin.
“There is no recement! I already told you, Coral took advantage of me while I was drunk. It has nothing to do with Selina. I came today to get our wedding ring diamonds. Selina came along to help when she heard, trying to pitch in. You misunderstood everything. Can you apologize to her now?”
He stared at her with a mix of frustration and reason, as if he had already exined everything and wanted her to stop overreacting.
Selina stepped forward. “It’s fine, Zach. I was at fault back then. That p was owed to Anne. But Anne, even if you don’t like it, I still have to say this. epting jewelry from another man isn’t right. You should return it. I’ll make sure the next pieces you likee from me.”
“What jewelry from another man?”
Zacharias‘ eyes locked onto the jewelry box in Anneliese’s hand. His brow furrowed as he snatched it and opened it.
Inside, the ruby set gleamed. His handsome face darkened, and his grip on her wrist tightened without thought.
“What is this? Why are you so quick to favor someone else? I have not neglected you at all! I’ve given you the best this world has to offer!”
Anger surged through him. He remembered how she had casually tossed aside the diamond jewelry he had carefully chosen, yet now she treasured gifts from

another man, even carrying them into the bathroom. A strange, unfamiliar jealousy filled him, and he struggled to control it.
Anneliese’s face drained of color. “What are you doing? Let go!”

Zacharias refused. Veins pulsed at his temples, and his piercing, hurt–filled gaze fixed on her. “Who gave this to you? Tell me!”
Selina intervened quickly.
“Zach, calm down. Anne just really likes this set. Nothing happened with Mr. Number One.”
The mention of Mr. Number One reminded Zacharias of the twenty million he had spent unnecessarily.
He knew exactly what a gift of that value represented.
“Who is he?”
Veins throbbed at his temples. Jealousy and fury collided violently in his chest.
He had tried to ask before, but the staff had stayed tight–lipped.
Anneliese had no intention of dragging Jonathan into this.
Her eyes were cold and clear. “You don’t deserve to know. Let go!”
She reached for the box. Zacharias snapped, throwing the ruby set into the trash with force.
“Zacharias! Are you insane? It’s not yours! What gives you the right to throw it away?”
Anneliese shoved him, desperate to retrieve the box. It was worth millions.
Her panic only deepened Zacharias‘ irritation and jealousy.
He wrapped his arm around her waist, pinning her against him. He pulled a small

“Anne, look. I got our wedding diamond back. Whatever you want, I’ll buy it for you. Why care about that?”
Selina spoke softly. “Anne, the wedding ring is a symbol of your marriage. Be careful. Don’t lose it again. Zach put a lot of thought into it. Don’t let him down.”
Anneliese felt disgusted by them both.
She lowered her gaze to the pink diamond. “Twenty–five million? Zacharias, only a guy like you would spend that much on something like this.”
Zacharias frowned. Her reaction was not what he expected.
No tears, no softness, no gratitude.
Her face remained calm, her eyes sharp with mockery and indifference. His knuckles trembled slightly on the box.
“What do you mean?” Selina asked, confused.
Anneliese grabbed the pink diamond.
“Zacharias, this isn’t the diamond from our wedding ring.”
She snapped the box shut and, before he could react, threw it with force.
Selina gasped.
“Anneliese! What are you doing?”
The box mmed into the corner of the wall, sending diamonds scattering across the floor.
Zacharias‘ face darkened. He lunged instinctively to grab the box.
Anneliese stumbled back, steadying herself against the sink.
