Chapter 1575

    ?Chapter 1575:

“Mom, what are you doing?” Brendon shouted. He rushed to grab Joselyn’s hand before she could strike again, stepping in front of Ynda to shield her.

“What are you thinking? She could have killed your grandmother, and you’re still defending her?” Joselyn yelled back.

“It wasn’t her,” Brendon roared, eyes burning.

“If it wasn’t her, then who? Katie?” Joselyn retorted with a bitterugh. She refused to believe her own daughter could be foolish enough to hurt Bethel inside their home.

“It was her,” Brendon said, his jaw tightening as he pulled his mother’s hand away. He couldn’t bring himself to look at his sister. “Katie’s the one who pushed Grandma down the stairs.”

Joselyn’splexion turned ghostly pale, shock washing over her face.

She turned slowly, her gaze finallynding on her daughter, where guilt was written inly across Katie’s features. “Katie, tell me the truth. Did you really push your grandmother down the stairs?” Joselyn’s voice shook.

“Mom…” Katie’s voice cracked, and then she burst into tears. “I didn’t mean to! I never wanted to hurt Grandma…”

Joselyn’s vision dimmed. Her knees buckled, and she staggered back a step. She forced herself to stand straight, pressing her fingers to her pounding temples as her thoughts scattered.

“How… how could you be so reckless?” Joselyn’s voice shook with a mixture of fury and panic.

If Bethel died, losing the inheritance would be the least of Katie’s problems. Katie’s future would be ruined, with prison a very real possibility.

How could she be foolish enough to confront someone already clinging to life? A little patience would have secured everything. Why couldn’t Katie control herself?

The more Joselyn thought about it, the hotter her rage burned, her stare now one of raw disappointment.

Whether Bethel lived or died, Katie stood to gain nothing and lose everything.

From every angle, it was a catastrophe. She couldn’t fathom what had possessed her daughter.

“I didn’t mean for any of this to happen… I never imagined it would go this far…” Katie sobbed.

Blinking through her tears, Katie nced toward Ynda, biting her lip hard to stop herself from mentioning Ynda’s argument with Bethel.

Bringing up Ynda’s role would only make things worse, especially since her mother already couldn’t stand her. Ynda had always been kind to her. She couldn’t betray that now.

It was her own clumsiness that had caused Bethel to fall. Since she was already being med, she might as well bear the full me and protect Ynda.

“Enough! Stop crying! The two of you are giving me a migraine. Neither of you knows how to act properly,” Joselyn snapped.

Joselyn red at them, her irritation zing. A son who chose a woman over his own family. A daughter who picked a fight with a frail old woman and sent her tumbling down the stairs. Her only hope now was that the surgery seeded. Then she could beg Bethel for mercy. Otherwise, Katie’s life was over.

Watching the Dawson family drama unfold, Robin found the whole scene utterly absurd.
