Chapter 1500

    ?Chapter 1500:

As soon as she stepped into the room, a tall, dark figure suddenly leaped out from the side.

Christina reacted without thinking—she kicked him immediately.

“Oof!” Robin dropped hard to the floor, letting out a sharp gasp. “You crazy woman! It’s just me!”

Realizing what happened, Christina rushed over to help him up, smiling awkwardly. “Oh, sorry! That was just reflex… Why did you jump out like that?”

If Robin hadn’t been so tall, she might have mistaken him for a staff member and wouldn’t have kicked so hard.

Robin was clearly both angry and in pain. “I was only trying to scare you! Who kicks someone like that? You’re so rough. I waited up all this time! I was worried you might have run into trouble out sote.”

Robin held his stomach, ining loudly about the hard kick with a pained look on his face.

“Hey, don’t me me,” Christina retorted, not apologizing at all. “What if it had actually been an intruder?”

In truth, kicking him was letting him off easy, considering how he’d startled her. If it had been a real threat and she’d been armed, Robin wouldn’t have stood a chance.

“What kind of intruder sneaks into the Dawson family house?” Robinined, still rubbing his side. He was slowly recovering, but the kick had genuinely felt like it scrambled his insides. “Good thing I talked Bethel into going to bed and I was the one waiting. Otherwise, you might have kicked her!”

“Impossible,” Christina said with certainty. “I’d recognize Grandma’s silhouette anywhere.”

Besides, Bethel would never stoop to ying such a childish prank—unlike Robin.

“I’m genuinely hurt, you know,” Robin said, putting on a wounded expression. “We’ve known each other forever, and you didn’t even recognize me.”

“Look, it’ste. Let’s just go to sleep. I didn’t kick you that hard, so stop exaggerating. You’re fine,” Christina said, waving him off.

“Where were you? It’s sote… And you didn’t even take me with you,” Robin murmured, moving closer and deliberately sniffing the air around her.

He pulled back, frowning with genuine confusion. “What is that scent on you? It smells really familiar…”

A flicker of guilt crossed Christina’s face, but she quickly hid it. “I was just out with a friend. It’s probably just her perfume.”

“Perfume…” Robin scratched his head, still frowning. “Doesn’t smell like any perfume I know.”

Christina faked a huge yawn, actingpletely worn out. “I am absolutely exhausted. Whatever this smell is, let’s deal with it tomorrow.”

“Okay.” Robin reluctantly agreed. But just then, his eyes caught on something odd. He grabbed her arm. “Hold up! Why are your lips so swollen?”

Christina touched her lips without thinking andughed softly. “Maybe the food was just way too spicy.”

“You went out to eat and didn’t invite me?” Robin said, sounding more yful than suspicious.

“Next time, I swear you’reing with me,” Christina said, making a quick promise.

Robin didn’t press further but still teased, “You’d better not ke on me.”
