Chapter 1499

    ?Chapter 1499:

Hours passed, the quiet of the night wrapping around them, until finally Christina closed her book and sighed softly. She had to leave.

“You’re really not staying tonight?” Dn asked, his voice low and reluctant.

“I can’t,” Christina whispered gently. “My grandmother is waiting for me back home. I shouldn’t keep her waiting.”

Dn exhaled slowly, a faint shadow crossing his handsome face. “Chrissie… you don’t want me anymore, do you?”

Christina chuckled softly, shaking her head as she reached up to touch his face. “Don’t be ridiculous. I could never want anyone but you. In this life, it’s only ever going to be you.”

“Really?” Dn asked, tilting his head, feigning a pout that made him look impossibly endearing.

“Absolutely,” Christina replied, cupping his face in her hands and kissing him once more.

Only then did Dn’s lips curl into a satisfied smile. “Alright… you should probably head back. Or Robin might start asking questions. We wouldn’t want that, would we?”

Dn knew Robin was at the Dawson family’s old estate, staying with Christina under the pretense of friendship. A flicker of jealousy stirred in him, but he pushed it aside. He knew Robin meant nothing more than a friend to Christina. More importantly, Robin had no idea that his capable friend was actually Christina.

Dn had figured it out long ago, and he couldn’t help but smile at the thought of Robin’s eventual reaction—it would be priceless.

Christina giggled, shaking her head. “Him? No way. He’d never guess. He’s still running around, hunting for you… the so-called legendary ‘ine.''”

“Let him keep looking,” Dn murmured, running his fingers through her hair, his gaze soft and protective. “It keeps him busy. Doesn’t bother us.”

But the truth was—he didn’t want to let her go, not tonight, not ever.

As if in silent agreement, he drew her into his arms once more and kissed her deeply, as though trying to make the momentst.

They finally separated when they both needed air. Dn let go of Christina, clearly not wanting to stop.

“How about I drive you home?” he suggested softly, tucking a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.

“We shouldn’t risk it. If anyone sees us, the whole n is ruined.” Christina gave his head a quick pat and said gently, “Behave.”

That simple gesture always worked perfectly on Dn—but only when it came from Christina. Anyone else who dared to touch him, let alone pat his head, would have faced serious consequences.

“Go on, then,” he said, kissing her forehead. “Be careful on your way back. Call or text me as soon as you’re inside.”

“Okay,” Christina replied, equally reluctant to leave.

When Christina got back to the Dawson family estate, she noticed one smallmp was still glowing in the living room. She assumed everyone else had already gone to bed.
