Chapter 1399

    ?Chapter 1399:

“Thank you, Jordy,” Ophelia said sincerely, her voice soft but full of gratitude. “You’re incredible—truly the best surgeon in Lionesspaw.”

“Oh, I’m not nearly as skilled as you think,” Jordy replied modestly, though his eyes flickered toward Christina.

If they only knew the truth—if they knew about Christina’s extraordinary medical ability—they’d be surprised. But Christina had made him swear to silence, and he intended to keep that vow.

Still, the secret pressed heavily on his chest—a remarkable truth he longed to reveal, yet was forced to keep buried deep inside, stifling the rush of excitement that threatened to spill.

“Well,” Ophelia said with a faint grin, her voice lighter now. “I think both Christina and Jordy are amazing. Our family’s full of geniuses! We really are something special.”

“Especially you, Christina,” Ophelia said, taking the chance to sp Christina’s hand tightly. “You’re the one I admire most. I want to learn everything I can from you.”

Even now, the mere thought of the kidnapping sent a shiver crawling down her spine. The sight of a man being shot dead right before her eyes was seared into her memory, that brutal instant leaving a shadow she couldn’t quite shake.

But remembering how Christina had stood then—calm, razor-sharp, and utterly fearless as she took aim and fired with wless precision—somehow dulled that fear. Watching her in action had reced terror with awe.

Ophelia thought to herself that if only she could be half as strong, she wouldn’t be so easily cornered. She was determined never again to be the weakness anyone could use against her family.

Her own confidence was mostly an act—a bright noise meant to hide her trembling. Christina’s, however, was the real thing: fierce, grounded, and born of true strength.

“You never miss a chance to tter Christina, do you?” Amaya teased with a helpless smile.

“Of course not! I loveplimenting her,” Ophelia said with augh.

Their easy banter lifted the heaviness that had hung in the room. Just then, Garry entered with a team of doctors.

After a thorough check, they confirmed Ophelia’s condition was stable—she only needed rest and time to recover.

That evening, the moment Dn saw Christina, he pulled her into his arms without a word. The memory of what she’d gone through made his heart race, the fear still fresh. Even though she was safe, the thought of how close he’de to losing her left him shaken.

“Do you know how worried I was?” Dn murmured against her hair, holding her tightly.

“But I’m perfectly fine now, aren’t I?” Christina said with a soft chuckle, gently patting his back.

His voice dropped low, thick with emotion. “I’m sorry… for interfering with your ns.”

Though Christina hadn’t told him, Dn’s men had discovered something—traces of a strange incendiarypound hidden in the corner of the vi’s hall. It was colorless, odorless, and left no smoke.
