Chapter 1398

    ?Chapter 1398:

Jordy nced at Christina, his mouth slightly parted in surprise. The very next moment, Christina slipped her arm through his and said with an easy smile, “Luckily, Jordy’s here this time. Let’s just wait for Ophelia to wake up.”

Jordy gave a faint, helpless smile. Was she worried he might reveal the truth? Still, since she had already told everyone to keep her role in the surgery a secret before leaving the operating room, he had no intention of breaking that promise.

By the time the operation ended, night had already fallen. The long hours of fear and tension had drained everyonepletely. Only four people stayed behind in the hospital room; the rest, worn out and heavy-eyed, went home to rest.

Christina and Jordy chose to remain, unwilling to take chances in case something unexpected happened. They wanted to be there—ready, if anything went wrong.

Amaya and Garry, too, were too worried to leave, though they insisted on letting Christina and Jordy rest.

“You two should get some sleep,” Amaya said gently. “If anything happens, we’ll wake you right away.”

“Alright,” Christina and Jordy replied in unison, neither arguing. One stretched out on the narrow cot, while the other sank into the worn sofa.

Christina pulled out her phone and typed a quick message to Dn, reminding him to get some rest.

When Dn received her message, relief washed over him. He told her to rest early too, and after exchanging goodnight wishes, they both put their phones aside.

The next morning, Christina was startled awake by a sudden cry.

    “She’s awake! Ophelia’s awake!”

“You stay here—I’ll get the doctor!”

Amaya and Garry’s voices trembled with excitement. Christina opened her eyes to see Amaya standing there, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks.

Christina jumped to her feet, just as Jordy stirred awake beside her.

“Ophelia!” they both called at once.

Ophelia looked weak, her face pale, her lips colorless. The moment she saw Christina, she instinctively tried to sit up—but pain red through her abdomen, and she drew in a sharp breath through clenched teeth.

“Don’t move!” Christina rushed to her side. “You just had surgery. If your wound tears open and gets infected, it’ll be serious.”

Ophelia gave her a faint, weary smile. “I forgot I was hurt. I just wanted to make sure you weren’t injured.”

“Silly girl, I’m perfectly fine.” Christina brushed her hand softly over Ophelia’s hair. “Don’t worry—the surgery went smoothly. Rest up, and you’ll recover in no time. As for the scar on your stomach… I’ll get you some scar removal cream. I promise, you won’t have a single mark left.”

Ophelia smiled weakly. “Thank you, Christina.”

She took those words as gentlefort. Deep down, she knew no cream could truly erase a scar. Still, she didn’t mind. Being alive was a blessing enough. A few scars were nothingpared to the miracle of surviving. Back then, she had genuinely believed she was going to die—she had even said her goodbyes. To wake up now felt like a gift from fate itself.

“We have Jordy to thank for this,” Amaya said, her voice trembling with emotion. “Without his extraordinary skills, you might have…” She couldn’t finish the thought, tears welling again.
