?Chapter 1327:
Terrence had once been a cold man who abandoned his wife and daughter, so Katy never expected love from him. She had clung to the faint hope that Nelly might be different, but Nelly had failed her.
Nelly—who had once sacrificed her daughter with hesitation—now chose her son’s survival instead.
Nelly’s love for Conrad drove Katy into a deep, consuming jealousy.
Why had Katy been the one offered without a second thought, while Conrad’s life was worth their mother’s own sacrifice? Was it simply because she was a woman?
Both had been carried in Nelly’s body for months; both hade from the same womb. How could Nelly be that biased toward Conrad?
Katyughed, a sound that had no humor left in it. It tore out of her—half sob, half sneer.
“Mom, you are the reason he dies. If you hadn’t been so biased, I wouldn’t have tried to kill him in the first ce. You’d protect him at all costs, but I’d rather see him dead.” Katy spoke through gritted teeth, her eyes bloodshot with hatred so intense that it seemed ready to spill over.
Nelly’s whole body went limp. “I-I was wrong. Katy, I was wrong. Please, don’t…” Her voice choked into sobs.
She had never imagined trading her own life for Conrad would turn into a de driving him faster toward death.
“Then kill him,” Nelly stammered, paning every word. “You kill him, then… I swear I will treat you like the child I love most. I will—I will make you my only one.”
“Is that so?” Katy said, staring at her mother. “Will I really be the one you love most?”
Nelly swallowed hard. Her voice trembled. “Yes. I promise. You will be my only one.”
She thought she could soothe the storm with that lie. She thought she could steer Katy back from the edge.
But she was wrong. Katy was far gone, driven half-mad by her contempt for them.

Katy smiled. It did not reach her eyes. “That’s so sweet of you, Mom.”
Then she pulled the knife out of Conrad’s abdomen and drove it back in, this time lower.
Conrad’s body jolted. His eyes shot open as pain tore through him. His lips trembled, soundless cries spilling out.
His skin turned pale, his body drenched in cold sweat. He didn’t want to die. He couldn’t.
His eyes searched for mercy in Katy’s face, but there was none left to find.
“Ugh…” His breath rattled, every sound pleading for life.
“No! My son!” Nelly’s scream split the air.
Her eyes widened in horror as her son’s body convulsed. The pain in her chest was unbearable, like the de was cutting into her instead.
