Chapter 1310

    ?Chapter 1310:

Christina took a small bite, then smiled. “Thank you, it’s really good.”

“Please enjoy, Miss Jones. If there’s anything else you need, don’t hesitate to tell us,” the maid said with a polite bow.

“Alright, that’ll be all for now,” Christina said gently.

She didn’t like being stared at while eating and preferred some peace.

After a few spoonfuls, she set her spoon down and picked up her phone.

Christina absentmindedly spooned her porridge as she dialed Dn’s number.

Dn picked up almost immediately, his deep voice wrapping around her name. “Chrissie.”

His voice was calm and rich, smooth and maic, like it had the power to melt her worries away.

“What are you doing?” Christina asked in a gentle tone.

Dn chuckled lightly on the other end. “Having breakfast. What about you?”

“Same here… Did something happen when you were heading backst night?” Christina asked.

There was a short pause before Dn’s calm, deep voice came back through the line.

“Yeah,” he said finally. “Someone was tailing us, but we managed to lose them. I just thought… If they couldn’t get to me, they mighte after you. So, I sent more people over to make sure you’re safe.”

Christina frowned slightly; she could tell he wasn’t telling her everything, but she didn’t push. “Be careful, Dn. Since they failed this time, they’ll probably try again.”

No one had found out who was behind the attempts on Dn’s life yet. As long as Dn was alive, those people would keeping for him.

No one knew if they were business rivals or someone with a personal grudge.

“Alright,” Dn replied. “When you go to work, take the guards with you. I’m more worried about you than I am about myself.” He sounded calm, almost indifferent about his own safety, but his concern for her was obvious.

“Okay,” Christina said with a soft smile.

After a moment, she lowered her voice shyly. “I’m starting to miss you already.”

“I miss you too,” Dn said, his tone filled with quiet warmth.

Even through the phone, they could feel the warmth and sweetness between them.

But it would be a while before they could see each other again, and both had to endure the ache of missing one another.

Two weeks slipped by in what felt like no time at all. Dn had stopped by once during those two weeks, but other than that, nothing happened.

Things seemed quiet on the outside, but underneath, tension simmered and trouble was brewing.

They knew there wouldn’t be any peace until they dealt with whoever was pulling the strings behind the scenes.
