Chapter 1107

    ?Chapter 1107:

Brendon hadn’t expected his sister to blurt this out so suddenly, yet he found no fault in her. Instead, his eyes immediately sought Christina’s reaction. Christina’s response was detached, as though she had heard nothing more than idle chatter.

It was far from the reaction Brendon had wished for, and a wave of disappointment swept through him.

But the feeling faded quickly as he steadied himself. Perhaps she was only pretending, hiding her hurt beneath a mask of indifference. That thought alone revived his spirits.

“I’ll make myself clear: I will not be attending your wedding,” Bethel dered, her expression stern.

“Grandma, why are you still so biased against Ynda?” Katie demanded, her voice sharp with anger, unable to grasp her grandmother’s view.

“You fool, you’d likely side with the very person who deceived you,” Bethel scolded without restraint.

“Grandma!” Katie shot to her feet, seething. “You don’t have to call me a fool just to defend an outsider!”

“Hah!” Bethel sneered. “Calling you a fool is already an understatement.”

To be berated so harshly by her grandmother, and in front of Christina no less, left Katie burning with humiliation.

“I’ve lost my appetite. I’m finished here!” Katie snapped, throwing down her fork and knife before storming off.

“Then don’t eat. It would only be wasted on you,” Bethel retorted with cutting finality.

Her eyes stinging with fury, Katie quickened her steps and vanished from the dining room in moments.

Bethel’s chest tightened with a suffocating weight, her heart heavy with frustration. How had her bloodline produced such foolish descendants? One after another, each had fallen victim to Ynda’s schemes.

“Grandma, it’s my wedding. If you refuse to attend, what will people think? You already skipped my engagement banquet…” Brendon said, though his gaze kept darting toward Christina, gauging her response.

Yet Christina remained aloof, behaving as if she couldn’t care less.

“I would attend your wedding no matter who the bride was—except Ynda. That will not change,” Bethel dered firmly.

Bethel sensed that cing her trust in Christina had been the wisest choice. If Brendon clung to Ynda, then sooner orter, the Dawson fortune would end up in Ynda’s grasp.

“Katie wasn’t wrong; your prejudice against Ynda runs too deep,” Brendon argued, ncing at Christina with a flicker of something he himself didn’t recognize as anticipation. “Christina, do you think I should go through with this marriage?”

Christina had been doing her best to stay in the background, but she was startled when the conversation suddenly turned to her. Withnguid ease, she lifted her eyes and met Brendon’s gaze. “If you want to marry her, then marry her. What’s it to me? I’m not your parent.”
