Chapter 1108

    ?Chapter 1108:

Brendon felt stung, though he couldn’t say exactly why. “Does it truly not matter to you? That I’m getting married?”

Christina let out a soft, amusedugh. “And what sort of reaction are you expecting from me? Surely you don’t think I’d ever return to you? With so many better men out there, I’d have to be insane to go back to you.”

Reconciliation with Brendon was out of the question—not even if he were thest man alive. And besides… The thought of Dn shed unbidden through her mind. Her heart, it seemed, had already made its choice.

Brendon had heard whispers that Christina keptpany with many men, and his temper snapped. “Having so many men around only proves how shamelessly flirtatious you are! You ought to feel disgrace, not pride!” he shouted.

Bethel mmed her hand against the table and rose to her feet.

Christina seized the cup of water beside her and flung it straight at Brendon.

“Get out this instant! Go reflect on your behavior!” Bethel thundered, her eyes zing with fury. Just when it seemed Brendon and Christina’s bond might mend, Brendon once again proved blind to the value of patience and kindness. Christina had once cared for him without rest, helping him rise again, only for him to cheat during their marriage. If he could ce himself in Christina’s position for even a moment, he would never hurl such cruel words.

Brendon stared at his drenched clothes, his anger ring hotter. “Grandma, you really are partial—just as Katie said. We are your blood, yet you always defend an outsider!” he used bitterly.

Aftershing out at Bethel, his re turned sharply toward Christina. “Tell me I’m wrong. With so many men around you, doesn’t that make you shameless?” he demanded.

Christina gave a coldugh at his words. “If it were Ynda surrounded by admirers, would you still call her shameless?”

Brendon opened his mouth, but no words came. He could never bring himself to throw such usations at Ynda. To him, her admirers only proved her brilliance. He might resent the men drawn to her, but he would never brand her shameless.

“What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?” Christina sneered, knowing she had hit the nail on the head.

Bethel shook her head slowly and sighed wearily. It was in Christina would never go back to Brendon. And Brendon was far from worthy of her.

Brendon stood silent and then muttered under his breath, “Ynda is different.”

“Leave this house at once!” Bethelmanded, her fury undimmed.

Seeing that Christina said nothing more, Brendon stormed out in a rage. Inside, however, confusion unsettled him. He wanted to stay, yet he could not bear it, so he fled with heavy steps.

As Christina watched her former husband’s figure vanish, Dn’s image surfaced in her mind. Whether cool, tender, or innocent, Dn was wless in every sense. He lived by principle. Had he been the one she married three years ago, today’s events would never have happened. The thought of Dn—who always shielded her, believed in her, and trusted her without question—brought a faint smile to her lips.
