Chapter 1106

    ?Chapter 1106:

Katie clenched her fork and knife, fury rising in her chest. Since when had her brother shown Christina such tenderness? To her, Christina was nothing but a flirt, and keeping Christina close was bound to invite trouble—one day she might snatch Brendon away.

The irony was that Christina didn’t even care for turkeys, though she usually sampled a bit of everything. Most of the food spread before them was her favorite, yet somehow, Brendon had managed to choose the one thing she disliked. He had never bothered about her tastes before. Now, out of nowhere, he was trying to cater to her. She was convinced his intentions were far from pure.

Christina held her tongue and kept eating. Meanwhile, Brendon felt a small sense of satisfaction, convinced he had remembered her tastes correctly after all.

Bethel’s gaze shifted between them, and she sighed inwardly. Her grandson clearly didn’t care for Christina—he didn’t even know her favorite dishes.

Picking up the serving fork and knife, Bethel ced a piece of turkey onto Katie’s te. “Christina doesn’t like turkeys, but Katie does,” she remarked lightly.

At once, the atmosphere at the table grew awkward.

“Sorry, I got it wrong,” Brendon awkwardly apologized to Christina.

“There’s no need to apologize,” Christina replied coolly. If it hadn’t been for Bethel’s presence, she would have tossed the turkey straight into the trash.

Scanning the dishes, Brendon chose the cabbage this time. “You like this, don’t you?” he asked.

Bncing it with the serving fork and knife, he tried cing it onto Christina’s te.

Christina immediately shifted her te away. She had allowed him once; she wouldn’t let him seed again.

“If I want something, I’ll serve myself. Don’t trouble yourself,” Christina said coolly, her voice distant.

Brendon’s hand froze midair before he quietly ced the vegetables onto his own te.

“Christina, we don’t need to keep so much distance…” Brendon said, embarrassed.

Christina didn’t even look at him. “Just stop talking. Let’s eat.”

Brendon fell silent, his frustration simmering. Why did she always have to resist him? Couldn’t they have a simple, normal exchange? And yet, he thought, she had eaten the turkey he served. Maybe she didn’t hate him as much as she pretended.

Bethel cast him a discreet nce, secretly amused. He had only himself to me. He hadn’t cherished Christina before, and now he was facing the consequences.

Katie was seething. There was no way she would let her brother reconcile with Christina. Her eyes gleamed with mischief, and she suddenly let out augh.

“Grandma, Brendon is going to marry Ynda.”

Bethel’s face hardened, her cold stare brimming with disapproval as she looked at her grandchildren. Since Brendon was already nning to wed Ynda, why was he suddenly trying to win over Christina? Did he believe there was something in Christina he could exploit? Or was he attempting to use her as a stepping stone for Ynda’s gain?
