“I’ve never seen such an ungrateful person. Princess Madison, unable to get the royal family’s approval, approached him herself. Yet, he avoided her like the gue at the mere sight of her.
“When Princess Madison sent him gifts, he had his doors shut tight to keep her emissaries out. Shortly after, he even announced he’d found a mate–a clear move to cut off Madison’s hopes. But in doing so, he shattered her heartpletely.”
A cold, mirthlessugh escaped her, her voice hoarse and aged yet brimming with hysterical hatred, “Everyone hails him as a true man, yet he broke Madison’s heart and ruined her life!”
“You champion those she–wolves, saying they have their own lives. But Madison is no different. Why should she be destroyed like this? What right did Alpha Bentley have to hurt her so?”
Wiping away her tears with the back of her hand, she forced a deste smile and continued, “Yes, I hate Alpha Bentley with all my being, yet deep down, I also admire him— isn’t that contradictory?”
“Madison feels the same. To hate, love, and respect the same person is bothughable and tragic. Every one of Alpha Bentley’s actions, every report of his victories or defeats on the battlefield, tugged at Madison’s heartstrings.”
Her hands suddenly mmed onto the desk, her body leaning forward as tears streaked through the wrinkles on her face.
“When news of Alpha Bentley’s death reached us, I thought, now that he’s gone, whether loved or hated, Madison could finally let go. But she couldn’t.”
“She wept for Alpha Bentley until she nearly fainted.”
Rosa let out a heavy sigh, slowly sinking back, her voice drained of energy, “I know she can never let go of Alpha Bentley. Even in death, even reduced to ashes, he lives on in her heart.”
“It’s fate. All of it is fate.”
As soon as she finished speaking, her vision went ck, and she copsed backward, unconscious.
Lance and the recorder stepped out. He first supported Adide, then ordered his men to carry Rosa away.

He specifically instructed them to summon a doctor to check on her and administer nutrients.
Adide remainedposed, adding, “Send people to look under the tree at Madison’s manor for the box Rosa mentioned. There’s a notebook inside with details of the victims.”
“Yes!” The recorder immediately went to arrange it.
Adide leaned on Lance, her heart and throat feeling as if stuffed with rotten, foul cotton–a feeling of indescribable difort.
“Adide, stop the questioning,” Lance said worriedly.
“Don’t take her words to heart. Alpha Bentley was faultless.”
Adide gradually regained her voice, her face pale. “I’m fine. I can continue the interrogation. Once Rosa recovers, I’ll press on slowly.”
“At least now we know the origins of those she–wolves and can inform their families.”
“They won’t have to live in fear like the Caldwells, dreading each day. Now they know their loved ones are gone.”
Her steps felt weak–death meant nothingness, no chance of reunion.
Having experienced the pain of loss herself, she knew “confirmation of death” would tore one’s heart apart.
Taking a deep breath and steadying herself, Adide continued her analysis, “From Rosa’s words, we can deduce that Madison harbored hatred for his father. And the old Lycan King was the child their father loved most.”
“So Madison’s treason was likely revenge. It seems she and Germain began plotting rebellion while the old Lycan King was still on the throne……”
“At least now we know her motive for treason.”
Lance nodded in agreement but kept his hand on her. “True, this information is helpful. No need to push Rosa further.”
He’d seen behind the partition how Adide had been enduring her inner pain, her fists clenched tightly at her sides.
Alpha Bentley was a hero in Adide’s eyes, yet he was now senselessly dragged into Madison’s love–hate feeling. Even in sacrificial death, he was smeared. Adide must be both angry and hurt.

After a moment, Adide pressed her hands against Lance’s chest, suppressing the churning in her stomach
Her voice trembled with barely restrained fury, “It’s monstrous! How can someone be so cruel? Her so–called ‘deep love‘ moved no one but harmed countless innocents!”
“Most of those she–wolves merely resembled my mother. It’s bad enough she hurt them, but she also used my mother as an excuse! I won’t rest until she’s punished and pays the price!”
“Don’t worry, evil will meet itseuppance.”
Lance gently patted her back tofort her. “Let’s go outside for some air to ease the tension.”
“Alright, we’ll continue questioning Rosa once she’s recovered.”
The two exited the interrogation room, where sunlight streamed down, slightly dispelling the oppressive gloom inside.
