Paisley coated her face with thick foundation to cover her swollen cheek and headed to see Ramona.
The Barker family recognized her due to her prior interactions with Ramona.
However, Paisley was stopped outside and not allowed in.
After Madison’s downfall, the Barkers had escaped her control but lost their backing as well.
Instead of taking in the frail Aireanna, they ced her and Ramona in a nearby dpidated house, sending over bread and milk daily.
The guard spoke to Paisley with irritation, “We’ve told you, we have no Aireanna here! If you’re looking for her, go to that rundown shack over there!”
Paisley’s temper was already frayed from a morning punch by Avery.
Now, facing this attitude, she snapped.
She grabbed the guard’s ear and barked, “Lead the way!”
The guard yelped in pain, drawing the Barker family’s attention.
Aireanna’s brother rushed out with others, ready to scold Paisley for her actions. <fn5a6e> Follow current nov?ls on Find~Novel</fn5a6e>
But Paisley kicked the Barker family’s gate down with a loud “Boom!” The gate crashed to the ground.
Aireanna’s brother paled with fear and dared not interfere.
Paisley, still gripping the guard’s ear, marched forward. The distance wasn’t far; soon they arrived at the modest house.
Paisley knocked and, upon seeing Ramona, released the guard.
Ramona was initially surprised to see Paisley, then recalled their earlier deception regarding the operation timeline, leaving her somewhat disgruntled.
Though she understood the need for secrecy, the betrayal stung.

Polite but cool, she asked, “Paisley, what brings you here?”

Ramona stepped aside. “Please, doe in.”

Ramona knew that had she not been kept in the dark, her unwavering trust in her father would have led her to reveal the n.
She never imagined her father would betray her.
The house was spartan, a simple tiled–roof cottage with an outdoor kitchen and a single living area and bedroom inside.
Sunlight streamed through gaps in the broken roof, highlighting the disrepair.
A heavy rain would surely flood the ce.
Paisley tried to overlook the poor conditions but felt uneasy sitting on a shaky bench in the small living room, with sunlight piercing through the ceiling.
While Ramona attended to her mother, Paisley leaped onto the roof to inspect the damage.
Expecting only misced tiles, she found many broken ones, requiring a full recement.
When Ramona and Aireanna emerged, they were startled to see Paisley jumping down from the roof.
“What were you doing up there?” Ramona asked, puzzled.
“Haven’t you noticed the broken roof? If it rains, this ce will flood. Even without rain, the wind will howl through at night. How will you survive the winter?” Paisley exined.
Ramona replied softly, “I know. I’ll arrange for repairs soon.”
Paisley nced at Aireanna, noting her dire state.
She added, “Why did you bring your mother out here? Get her back to bed.”
Aireanna struggled to bow, her voice faint, “I must thank you and Luna Adide. Without you, I’d still be imprisoned in that basement, perhaps dead.”
Paisley, rmed by her paleness and instability, quickly supported her.
She said, “Don’t worry about it. Get back to bed. I’ve called Doctor Galvin. She’ll be here

shortly to check on you.”
Weakly, Aireanna protested, “No need to trouble the doctor……”
Paisley was baffled–why refuse treatment when ill?
Considering their situation after being cast out by the Barkers, she suspected theycked funds and decided not to press the issue.
Instead, she said, “This is Luna Adide’s instruction, and the doctor is her arrangement. Whether to proceed with treatment is up to you once the doctor arrives. Ramona, help your mother back to bed.”
“Thank you for your kindness, but we really don’t……” Aireanna began, but Paisley gently guided her into the room and helped her lie down.
The room was in worse condition——an old bed, a makeshift bed from two benches with a threadbare quilt, likely Ramona’s sleeping spot at night.
“Why won’t the Barkers let you return?” Paisley asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
Though she didn’t wish to meddle, she knew Ramona had once lived infort with the Barkers.
