Chapter 2984

    ?Chapter 2984:

“Spend time with her?” Louisetched onto his words. “So how long do you n to stay? Will it be a day, two days? A year, maybe two? Or is it going to be ten years, even twenty?”

Suddenly, Brady’s eyes shot wide open. His heart thudded in his chest.

What exactly was she getting at?

Wasn’t that just wishful thinking on his part?

Brady swallowed hard, then said, “Even if it takes twenty years, or even longer, I’ll stay by her side.”

    “Don’t make promises lightly.”

Louise fixed her gaze on him, her tone edged with warning. “You know, Colleen’s illness is stubborn. It won’t be easy. With her condition, having a child is almost out of the question.”

“That doesn’t matter to me.” Brady shook his head and added, “What matters most is keeping her health steady. Her wellbeing is everything now.”

With Colleen’s illness, having children was the furthest thing from his mind.

    “Humph.”

An inscrutable smile yed on Louise’s lips. “Don’t you want kids?”

    ???? pа???? ??f ??u?? ????????u??????y ??? ??????n??????????.??????

    “Mrs. Hayes.”

Brady’s mouth twisted in a bitter smile. “You already know how things are in my family. We’ve got bad genes… It’s honestly better not to pass them on. No kids means nobody inherits what’s wrong with me.”

Louise stared at him, struggling to process what she’d just heard.

Brady was still so young, yet he spoke with such maturity. She had to admit, Brady not only resembled his sister in looks but also in character.

No wonder Hadley never wanted to see her father but could ept this half-brother so easily.

Louise set her cup down, grabbed her bag, and stood up.

Brady, still puzzled, rose from his seat right away.

Louise gave him a long look. Days of worry melted from her face; for once, she felt at peace. “Come with me. I’ll take you to Colleen.”

For a moment, Brady stood frozen, too stunned to say a word.

Louise looked him in the eye and said, “Colleen’s condition means she needs long-term treatment, medicine, and regr checkups. Keeping her spirits up matters most, you get that?”

“Yes!” Brady nodded again and again.

    “Alright, let’s go then.”

Inside the hospital room, Ronald checked his phone, read Louise’s message, and—still in disbelief—turned to Colleen and quickly exined, “Colleen, I need to step out for a while to pick up your mom.”

    “Okay.”

Colleen nodded, a faint smile on her lips.

A momentter, the door swung open.

“That was quick.” Colleen looked up in shock, her body freezing as her eyesnded on Brady. “You—how did you manage to get in here?”

She lifted her hand and pointed at the door. “Get out!”

After closing the door, Brady moved slowly across the room, his gaze fixed on Colleen.

Colleen arched her brow, suspicion in her voice. “You’re not leaving? I’ll call for security!”

    “Don’t do that.”

Brady sat down beside her and gently steadied her arm. “Your mom’s the one who let me in.”

    “What?”

Colleen fixed her eyes on him, unable to look away.

    “Colleen.”
