Chapter 2937

    ?Chapter 2937:

The words caught Eric off guard, leaving him unsettled. Ellis had already dug up far too much.

Spotting Eric’s unease, Ellis offered a small, knowing smile. “Tell me, Eric. Did I get that wrong?”

Eric struggled to contain the storm brewing inside him. He clenched his fists tight, saying each word firmly, “Hadley loves me! Why else would she agree to such outrageous terms if not for me?”

    Humph!

Ellis froze for a beat, then chuckled softly.

“Eric, yes, it’s true Hadley agreed because of you, but that doesn’t mean…” His tone shifted, and the weight in his voice grew heavy. “You’re certain she agreed because she has feelings for you, not just because you’re her family? Isn’t it because you’ve grown up together and shared more than a decade of closeness? Can you truly be sure of it?”

Although he hadn’t known Hadley long, he had already seen that she was easy to read. Hadley’s heart was pure, and she carried deep feelings toward the whole Flynn family.

To her, Ernest and Eric were no different. Why couldn’t those feelings have been nothing more than sibling affection?

    Eric was left speechless.

At that moment, Eric, under questioning, looked uncertain and weighed down. What kind of feelings did Hadley have for him now? To be honest, he wasn’t sure himself.

Since she’d moved back to Srixby, Hadley no longer treated him the way she used to.

Catching the look on Eric’s face, Ellis couldn’t help but smile. “Eric, honestly, when things started with Hadley, I can’t say it was anything honorable. But my parents both adore her, and I truly do as well. How do you know that Hadley isn’t happy or content being with me now?”

He paused, then asked, “Eric, since you and Hadley are already divorced, and she’s still so young, surely you wouldn’t want to stand in the way if she wanted to find happiness with someone else?”

Eric’s face darkened at those words.

“What makes you so sure Hadley and I are truly over? If you hadn’te between us, we might have already reconciled!”

“Might have?” Ellis raised an eyebrow, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. “So even you’re not sure.”

He continued, “If Hadley really doesn’t want to be with you anymore, Eric, isn’t it cruel to keep her from moving on?”

Eric caught the heavy sarcasm in Ellis’s tone, and anger red inside him. He leaned back, chin lifted just a little.

“Fine, Ellis. Let’s settle this once and for all.”

“How are we supposed to do that?” Ellis looked puzzled. “What exactly do you mean, Eric?”

    Humph.
