Chapter 2729

    ?Chapter 2729:

    New chief?

Her eyes widened slightly. So his transfer and promotion had gone through?

    “Yes.”

Catching her reaction, he confirmed, “It happened two days ago. Yesterday was the handover. Today, I’m only here to collect my things.”

    Hadley murmured, “I see…”

His tone softened, casual but pointed, as he added, “Even with the transfer, I’ll be staying in Srixby.”

A subtle hint—they would still be in the same city. And his feelings hadn’t changed.

She understood the implication but veered past it.

“A promotion is a blessing. Congrattions. May your career… rise ever higher.”

Ellis regarded her for a long moment.

“Mr. Gomez…” She gestured politely toward the station.

“I shouldn’t keep you from packing.”

After a pause, he inclined his head.

    “Alright. Goodbye, then.”

He stepped back, turned, and walked away.

Watching his retreating figure, Hadley let out a slow breath. Finally—no more encounters…

She had been confessed to before. But Ellis’ affection had carried a heaviness, a persistence she couldn’t wee.

Now, it was finally behind her.

Soon, Ernest and the others emerged.

“Ernest!” She hurried over, her voiceced with anticipation.

    “All done?”

    ???????????? с???ρ???????? ????????????????????????

    “All done.” Ernest nodded.

    “We’ll go fetch Eric now.”

    “Then let’s go!”

Upon arriving at the detention center, they couldn’t just take Eric away. Instead, he would be transported straight to the hospital under police escort.

The group lingered by the entrance until a car finally rolled out of the gates.

Cristian checked the license te, then nodded.

“This is the one… Let’s follow them.”

The driver started the engine, trailing the escort closely.

At the hospital, the route had already been cleared, leading them straight to the VIP wing—the same floor where Eric had undergone surgery six months ago.

Paperwork came first. The police began the formalities, a slow and tedious process, while Ernest and Hadley waited quietly in the lounge.

When everything was finally settled, Cristian approached.

“Mr. Scott, Mr. Flynn, Miss Pearson—you may go in now.”

They rose together and stepped into the hospital room.

Ericy on the bed, his face pale but his eyes brightening as theynded on Ernest and Hadley. A faint smile tugged at his lips.

    “Ernest, Hadley… you’re here.”

He then spread his arms slightly.
