Chapter 1060

    ?Chapter 1060:

Ernest let out a long breath. “In the hideout of that criminal gang, I met Linda and him.”

Hadley froze, the realization hitting her—the real Eric had been gone since then.

Ernest’s gaze softened as he continued, “Before Grandma took you in, you visited us often and saw my little brother. Don’t they seem almost identical?”

    Still reeling, Hadley nodded slowly.

    The resemnce was uncanny.

From her perspective, it was impossible to distinguish them at a nce. How could two unrted people look so alike?

    It was unbelievable!

“Exactly,” Ernest said, his voice tinged with awe. “I was also shocked when I first saw him. I couldn’t believe it.”

He had thought his lost brother had somehowe back to life.

Back then, they were both fighting to survive in the gang’s clutches.

They were often starving, freezing, and enduring relentless cruelty.

Their bond grew in that shared struggle.

“Eric,” tougher and braver, often shielded Ernest.

And Ernest, struck by his face—so like his own, even more like his little brother’s—felt a deeppassion for him.

“You know the rest,” Ernest said, his mind drifting to the past.

“Linda got us out. That day at the police station, waiting for Grandma, I made a decision. I decided to bring him back to the Flynn family as my brother.”

He couldn’t bear to tell N that his real brother was gone.

And he pitied the boy, alone and adrift.

So, Ernest hoped he could step into his brother’s life and find a ce. Over time, they grew up like real blood brothers, their bond legendary in Srixby.

Hadley listened, her heart twisting, unable to find words.

“Go inside,” Ernest said gently, sensing her turmoil. “Eric will throw a fit if he wakes and you’re not there. I’ll leave now.”

    “Take care, Ernest,” she managed.

    “Will do.”

As Ernest exited the ward, Quentin approached.

“Sir, should we inform Miss Harris?”

Lately, Linda had been reaching out to Quentin multiple times daily, pressing for any updates on Eric’s whereabouts.

    Ernest’s brow creased. “It’ste…”

After a beat, he added, “Hold off for now.”

Quentin blinked, surprised, but nodded. “Understood.”

In the hospital room, after receiving his medication, Eric started to sweat.

Hadley rose, dampened a towel in the bathroom, and gently wiped his face. His creased forehead showed he wasn’t resting calmly.

She could rte to his restlessness by now—both of them, despite enjoying the Flynn family’s splendor and generosity, were essentially guests in someone else’s home.

It exined Eric’s unwavering loyalty to Ernest.
