Chapter 1059

    ?Chapter 1059:

Her heart skipped a beat. “What… what did you say?” He didn’t respond.

“Eric?” she pressed, trying to pull back. She ced a hand on his chest and then felt the heat radiating from him.

    He was burning up.

“You’re feverish! We need to get you to a hospital—now!”

His grip tightened. “Don’t go. Just stay with me.”

“I won’t go anywhere,” she said gently. “But only if youe with me to the hospital.”

“…Alright,” he finally whispered. “I’ll go with you. Whatever you say.”

On the way, Hadley called Ernest. “Eric’s here with me. He’s got a high fever—I’m taking him to the hospital now.”

Eric leaned against the car seat, still holding her hand. His lips were cracked, his brow drenched in sweat.

By the time they arrived, Ernest was already waiting in the ER. He must’vee straight from N’s room.

    “Ernest!” Hadley called out.

He met her with a quick nod.

Eric was transferred to a gurney and wheeled inside.

Once the ER doors shut, Hadley and Ernest sat in tense silence on the hallway bench.

    Momentster, a nurse emerged.

“He’s running a very high fever. It’s turned into pneumonia. Why was he brought in sote? We need to admit him immediately. Are you his family? You will need to handle the paperwork.”

Ernest looked over at Quentin, who stepped forward without a word and followed the nurse.

Soon after, Eric was moved to a private room.

His fever hadn’t broken, and he drifted in and out of consciousness.

Ernest turned to Hadley. “He’s in bad shape. Stay with him if you can.”

“I will.” She walked him to the door but then called after him. “Wait—Ernest.”

    He paused, ncing back.

“Can you tell me what’s going on?” she asked. “He said something strange… He said he’s not really—”

Ernest lowered his gaze, then looked up and finished her sentence,

“He said he’s not really Eric Flynn?”

Hadley stared at him, stunned. “You knew what that meant?”

Ernest held her gaze, his expression unreadable.

    “So… he told you.”

“Told me what, exactly?” she asked, her heart racing.

For a second, an absurd thought crossed her mind. Could it be…

“It’s exactly what it sounds like,” Ernest continued. “He is not really my brother.”

Ernest turned to Hadley, his voice heavy. “Do you recall when my family was kidnapped?”

“Yes,” Hadley replied with a nod.

    “That was when it happened…”
