Chapter 1472

    ?Chapter 1472:

“You should count yourself lucky, Melvin.” N shed him another sugary smile, her wordsced with subtle digs. “Jessica stayed single until you came along, but she’s the type who gets obsessed.”

“If her family hadn’t stepped in, she’d still be chasing after that same guy, I bet,” Bianca added, unable to resist piling on.

Jessica stared at them, caught off guard. A scowl formed on her face. “And where did you get that information, anyway? Who told you I liked someone?”

In reality, only a select few from her school days ever knew about her feelings for Melvin. Even Gerard, who had been close, only caught on after graduation.

The girls went quiet, exchanging nces. Finally, one shrugged and said, “Oh, it wasn’t that hard to figure out.”

The truth was, they were bluffing.

No one there actually knew she’d spent all those years liking Melvin.

All they wanted was for Melvin to believe Jessica didn’t really care for him—that she had only rushed into a rtionship to avoid being alone. That way, if things fell apart between Jessica and Melvin, they’d have a chance to step in themselves.

Honestly, every single one of them was smitten with Melvin’s appearance.

“Tell us, how’s that old crush of yours doing these days?” N pressed, refusing to let the subject drop. “If he and Melvin were standing right here, which one would you choose?”

Jessica’s lips curled in annoyance. She shot N a re that said everything—her question was nothing but trouble.

It didn’t take long for N to realize her real motive had been spotted.

Jessica just thought it was immature.

Still, N kept up her delicate smile, but her focus was clearly fixed on Melvin now.

    Irritation bubbled inside Jessica.

“Why not take both?” Jessica retorted without missing a beat.<fn0f9b> Fresh chapters posted on F?nd-Novel</fn0f9b>

Bianca and the rest went wide-eyed at her answer, all eyes turning toward Melvin for his reaction.

When he didn’t even flinch, their doubts only deepened. Surely, if he really cared, he would have shown some sign of jealousy.

“You really do have good taste,” N said with a teasing lilt. “If it were me, I’d pick Melvin and no one else. Why settle for less?”

    Jessica secretly rolled her eyes.

“Melvin, don’t you have something to say about what Jessica just admitted?” Bianca chimed in, clearly hungry for drama, her eyes sharp with curiosity.

“I do,” Melvin replied, locking eyes with Jessica.

The whole group leaned closer, practically holding their breath. They figured this could only go one of two ways: either Melvin was some secret big shot and Jessica was just a fling, or he was a paid actor dragged here for show. Either way, they were certain they had stirred enough trouble.

“What is it?” Rena prompted, eyes bright with anticipation.

Melvin didn’t flinch. His gaze rested on Jessica, softening in a way none of them expected. “I’m just grateful she didn’t choose to let me go.”
