Chapter 1471

    ?Chapter 1471:

That caught her off guard. How did he twist her question like that?

Melvin looked her straight in the eye. “I’m only interested in you. No one else even registers for me.”

The rest of the drive passed with easy conversation.

By the time they pulled up, N had already arranged for a private lounge.

Just after nine, everyone gathered in the nightclub’s exclusive room. Everything was set—food, drinks, and all the distractions money could buy. N and her friends looked perfectly at home.

Amid all the noise andughter, Melvin’s calm and reserved presence drew attention.

“Come on, have a drink!” Bianca grabbed the chance to pour drinks for everyone, her goal obvious. “This ce is for unwinding. This round’s for you two.”

Melvin kept his answer cool. “Pass. I have to driveter.”

That simple statement put a damper on the mood right away.

The group traded looks, and someone piped up, “Alright, whoever skips the drinks is footing the bill tonight.”

“No problem.” Melvin nodded without flinching. His calm answer took everyone by surprise.

Quietly, they all remembered the rumors Jack had spread—about Melvin only getting into Amara Kitchen because of some intimidating connections.

“Your boyfriend’s a ss act—so generous too.” N, looking for gossip, cozied up beside Jessica. “Which family is he with?”

“He’s with mine,” Jessica answered without much interest.

Bianca leaned in. “She means, whichpany does he stand to inherit?”

“I’m not anyone’s heir.” Melvin kept hisposure. “Just your average guy from a small ce.”

“You’re quite theedian,” N let out a softugh and swirled her drink. “You think an ordinary guy just walks into Amara like it’s nothing?”

She had considered this carefully. Securing a spot at Amara took connections or a miracle. Even some big organizations had to pull strings, and here was Melvin—unbothered.

So it had to be one of two things: either he’d nned this years ago and lucked out, or he carried enough weight that no one dared say no.

No matter how you looked at it, there was nothing ordinary about him.

Bianca smirked. “Jessica, your man’s got secrets.”

“It’s not that he’s keeping things from you.” N was still admiring Melvin. “I think you just won the boyfriend lottery after twenty-eight years alone.”

A faint frown crossed Melvin’s face.

Before he could say anything, Jessica jumped in with a grin, clearly unfazed. “You’re right about that. I did hit the jackpot. Not everyone finds someone like him.”<fn4d89> ???s ??????? ?s ?????? ?? find(?)ovel</fn4d89>

N kept the conversation going. “So you’ve moved on from your old crush?”

Rena was quick to add, “We heard you were head over heels for some guy back in school. Spent years chasing him down. Is that history now?”
