?Chapter 1462:
The woman snapped right back. “Better save that for yourself, Miss Twenty-Eight-Years-Single.”
“What’s wrong?” Melvin asked, noticing her change in expression.
“Someone said I was pretending to have a boyfriend,” Jessica muttered, pouting.
“Don’t bother with it,” Melvin said smoothly. “We know it’s real between us. That’s all that matters.”
“No way,” Jessica shot back, her voice sharper now. “She’s been unting her rtionships ever since shended that first boyfriend. Always throwing shade at me for being single.”
Before, she had alwaysughed it off. But now, she wasn’t letting it slide. Not this time.
“Want to take a photo together?” Melvin offered, having overheard the voice notes.
Jessica was still weighing that when another call came in. It was the woman who had sent her the messages.
She answered, putting the call on speaker right between them.
“You actually got a boyfriend?” the woman teased.
“Obviously,” Jessica answered coolly.
“Let’s meet tomorrow then,” the voice came yfully. “We all want to see this mystery man of yours.”
“Name the ce,” Jessica said, not flinching. Sometimes she couldn’t be bothered with them. Avoiding them would only give them more to talk about.
“You pick. Anywhere is fine. Just make sure your star-boy boyfriend’s there,” the woman added, clearly amused.<fn0cae> Readplete version only at Find1Novel</fn0cae>
Jessica opened her mouth to suggest something, but Melvin beat her to it. “Amara Kitchen.”
Jessica’s head snapped around. She blurted out, “No.” Why should they enjoy such a nice spot? They didn’t deserve that much.
“That your boyfriend?” the caller teased again. “Good taste. Amara Kitchen’s definitely top tier.”

“Six o’clock tomorrow. See you at the entrance,” Melvin said, his voice cool and steady.
“Perfect.” With that, the call ended.
Jessica didn’t even get a chance to argue before the whole thing was set. “Are you out of your mind?” she asked, staring at him. “Why Amara Kitchen?”
“To back you up,” Melvin said, calm as ever.
“I don’t need that kind of show,” Jessica muttered.
He was ridiculously sweet and a total idiot at the same time. “The only reason I agreed is to prove to them I’m not single anymore. That’s it.”
Over the years, she had run into those girls at parties, events—everywhere. There was no real escape. And goingpletely cold on them would only make it worse.
“Nope. I’m changing the venue,” Jessica dered as she opened the group chat. She hardly ever spoke in that chat, but today was an exception. “I’ve never even been to that ce. Why should they get a free ride just because of you?”
