Chapter 1463

    ?Chapter 1463:

    Completely annoying.

“If you change it now, they’ll gossip even moreter,” Melvin said, as calm as ever.

“I don’t care,” Jessica fired back.

As long as they weren’t mocking her for being single or chasing unrequited love, she didn’t care what else they said.

“No need to change it,” Melvin answered softly, steady as a rock. “We can meet at the entrance. After that, I’m taking you inside for dinner. Not them.”

Jessica’s fingers froze above her keyboard, a spark of realization in her eyes. Melvin had only mentioned meeting at Amara Kitchen’s entrance, not sharing a meal.

“You’re brilliant!” she eximed, her smile lighting up like a sunrise.

Melvin shifted, a bit shy under her praise. “Just doing my part,” he mumbled.

Jessica grinned, knowing those girls’ flirty habits all too well. “They’ll probably swoon over you the second they spot you,” she teased. “But don’t worry—I’ve got your back.”

Melvin gave a small nod, his quiet way of saying thanks.<fne6ab> Discover more novels at </fne6ab>

Meanwhile, his post sent ripples through his friend group, and Gerard was the first to jump in.

The moment he saw their updates, he rang Melvin. “You two are a thing now and didn’t even tell me? I practically yed matchmaker!”

Jessica chimed in, her tone yful. “We didn’t want to bug you during your honeymoon with something small.”

Melvin nodded along. “Yeah, that’s it.”

Gerard wasn’t buying it. “Come on, can I get paid now for ying matchmaker? You two are rich—surely you can spare some cash.”

Melvin blinked, confused. Get paid for ying matchmaker?

Jessica coughed, her cheeks flushing with a hint of panic.

“She didn’t mention it?” Gerard asked, his curiosity piqued.

Jessica jumped in fast. “Don’t worry, you’ll get what you’re owed. I told him; he just forgot for a second,” she said, covering her tracks.

Gerard chuckled, not pushing the issue. “Fair enough. I’ll let you lovebirds be.”

When the call ended, Melvin frowned, still stuck on the fee. “What was he talking about?”

Jessica brushed it off. “Oh, nothing.”

She wasn’t about to spill the beans. If she did, would he think she was scheming?

Melvin raised an eyebrow. “You know Gerard. If I’d paid him to tell me the whole story, he’d have sung like a canary.”

Jessica went quiet, her eyes darting to his. Finally, she sighed, scratching her head. “Alright, fine. It’s not a huge deal.”

    Melvin waited, his gaze steady.

“When I was studying abroad,” Jessica admitted, “I asked him to keep tabs on you, just to know how you were doing.”

Melvin looked at her, his expression soft but unreadable.
