Chapter 1413

    ?Chapter 1413:

    Rnd doubted it.

“If he marries someone he doesn’t love, I swear I’ll march right up and knock some sense into him!” Jessica dered fiercely.

“All bark and no bite,” Rnd said knowingly. “If that really happened, you’d probably just lock yourself in your room and cry.”

Jessica narrowed her eyes at him. How could he say that?

“We’ll give you time. But if he ends up marrying someone else, you’re going to have to listen to us. We’ll find someone for you. Someone decent,” Rnd said. “Your mom and I can’t just sit back and watch you go through life all by yourself.”

“Fine,” Jessica said, though her voicecked conviction.

She had zero ns of marrying anyone she didn’t love. To her, marriage only meant something if both people truly cared for each other.

After the intense family discussion, Jessica retreated to her room. Shey back on her bed, feeling the weight of her thoughts pressing down. She fiddled with her phone, then quietly posted, “So sad.” Only one person could see it—Mel.

Within ten minutes, Melvin messaged her. “What’s wrong?”

She yed dumb and replied with a question mark.

He quickly replied, “I saw your post. Did something happen?”

She sent a voice note, her tone yfully miserable. “I confessed to the guy I like, and he shot me down. So now I’m being reckless and marrying someone I don’t even care about.”

She followed with another message. “The idea of spending the rest of my life with someone I don’t love is just depressing. Feels like that’s going to be my reality.”

Melvin replied instantly, “Don’t make impulsive decisions. Marriage isn’t something to y around with.”

“A failed love confession isn’t the end of the world. Just keep your heart open for the next person who catches your eye,” said Melvin.

Jessica’s frustration bubbled over as she snapped, “I should just block you. You sound way too much like the guy I’m into.”

She added, “It’s easy to give advice when you’re not the one hurting.”

This was his only secret ount, so he quickly typed back, “Some meetings are meant to be. If I upset you, I’m sorry, and I’ll take it back.”

Jessica let out a softugh. What a goof. She toyed with her phone, a yful spark in her eyes, and sent a voice message. “Are you cute or what?”

    “I’m alright,” he replied.

“Alright? That probably means you’re not much to look at.”

“People say I’m decent, but I think I’m just average.”

“Prove it. Send a pic,” Jessica teased through another voice message. “If you’re cute, you stay. If not, you’re gone.”

Melvin’s jaw dropped. His eyes flickered with hesitation. No way could he send his real photo. He could already imagine Jessica blocking him the second she saw it was him.

After a moment, he scoured the inte, found a picture of someone who looked a bit like him, and sent it.
