?Chapter 1414:
Jessica saw the photo and clicked her tongue twice. He was trying to pull a fast one on her. Still, this was getting fun. She grinned, teasing him further. “Not bad at all. Wanna be my boyfriend? I’m bored anyway.”
“Aren’t you getting married soon?” Melvin asked.
“Doesn’t matter,” Jessica said, stirring the pot. “My so-called fiancé has a new girlfriend every week. I figure I’ll take a page out of his book. Wanna date me? Maybe meet up when the time’s right.”
She sent the voice message and waited, smirking. She’d said it all to rile him up. Deep down, she’d never dream of acting like that. To her, that kind of behavior was just in wrong.
Melvin felt his world tilt. He yed her message again and again, her voice unmistakable. Why would she say something so wild? She was always the one with a moralpass, wasn’t she?
After a long silence, he typed, his emotions a tangled mess. “So, you’re asking me to be your side fling?”
Jessica grinned, imagining his shocked face. “Yup.”
Melvin was floored. He stood, gripping his phone, ready to storm over and talk some sense into her. How could she suddenly have such reckless ideas? But as he moved, he stopped cold. If he showed up now, she’d know this ount was his.
“If you’re not into it, I won’t push,” Jessica’s next voice message said. “I have plenty of choices anyway.”
She sent it and almost pped for herself. She couldn’t believe she’d said something so cold. No wonder they say it’s easier to fall into bad habits than to stick with good ones.
“That’s not right,” Melvin replied. “Just because your fiancé is wild doesn’t mean you should lower yourself to their level.”
“You won’t believe this,” Jessica said, weaving her heartbreak into a tale. “Until today, I was a good girl, head over heels for one guy for over ten years. But today, my confession crashed and burned.” She sent another message. “Since he doesn’t feel the same, I might as well have some fun and try a new way of living.”
Melvin’s eyes darkened. Was this because of him? After thinking it over, he typed, “Can we meet up?”
“Sounds good,” Jessica replied. “I’ll book a hotel room and send you the details.”

Melvin’s fingers froze on his phone. His chest felt tight, like he couldn’t breathe. Jessica knew this would hit him hard, but she had to do it.
He was as stubborn as a mule. Without a big push, he’d never open up about what was holding him back. Life was too short to waste. She didn’t want to spend years floating through uncertainty.
She booked a hotel room, then slipped into a stunning outfit that was equal parts elegant and alluring, with makeup done to perfection. Summer was around the corner, so the light dress felt just right.
Rnd and Lena raised their brows when they saw her all dressed up. “Where are you headed?” Rnd asked.<fne881> Th? link to the orig?n of this information r?sts ?n find?novel</fne881>
“Got a date,” Jessica said with a casual shrug.
They exchanged confused looks. A date? They didn’t pry, assuming she was meeting friends. As she slipped on her ts, they just said, “Be careful out there.”
