Chapter 1240

    Chapter 1240:

Jesse froze. He didn’t even know how to respond. Could he really just say he didn’t feel like doing anything at all?

n nced at him, unsure what to make of Jesse’s quiet stare. Was he upset? Or was that just how he always looked? Not wanting to push, n waited. “Jesse?” Nina looked up at him, confused.

“You guys go ahead,” Jesse said atst. He didn’t want to ruin the fun. “I just need to use the restroom. I’ll catch up.”

And with that, he walked off with a bodyguard following behind.

n watched him go, a strange feeling growing in his chest. Something didn’t add up.

“Does he not like amusement parks?” he asked.

“No way,” Nina said quickly. She wasn’t as sharp as Jesse, especially when it came to things like this. “Every time Mom and Dad let us choose a ce for a reward, Jesse always picked the amusement park,” she exined.

n blinked, confused. That didn’t line up at all.

If Jesse loved this ce so much, why did he look like he couldn’t wait to leave? Still puzzled, n pulled out his phone and sent a quick message to Freya, hoping she could clear things up.

But Freya and Ellis were still up in the air, somewhere mid-flight—and didn’t see his message at all.

When Jesse got to the restroom, he turned to the bodyguard and said, “Wait for me out here.”

As soon as he stepped inside, he started dry-heaving—hard and fast, like his body was trying to flip itself inside out.

Those kinds of rides with sudden drops? They just weren’t for him.

Once he got himself together, he took a moment to wash his hands under the cold water. Just as the bodyguard was getting ready to walk him back to n, Jesse gave a casual excuse. “No hurry, I want to check if there’s anything good to eat nearby.”<fn9ee1> ???s ??????? ?s ?????? ??     “You hungry?” the bodyguard asked.

“I’m looking for some snacks for Nina,” Jesse said gently. He wasn’t making it up—his voice was sweet and honest. “She loves them.”

The bodyguard gave a small nod, not needing any more exnation.

They wandered through the park, walking slowly and without much of a n. At some point, n called to ask where they were. The bodyguard answered simply, not sounding concerned.

By the time they finally found the snacks Nina liked, almost an hour had passed.

The moment she saw them, her face lit up with excitement.

“Thank you, Jesse! You’re the best!” she said between happy bites.

“You can go have fun with Uncle n first,” she added through a mouthful.

“When I’m done, the bodyguard can bring me to you.”

“There’s no need,” Jesse said with a smile. He pulled a book out of his small backpack, sat down on a bench, and opened it. “I’ll wait here for you.” He had bought enough snacks to keep her busy for at least an hour, maybe two. By then, it would be almost time for lunch.

There were a lot of treats, but they weren’t too heavy. She’d still be hungry enough to eatter.
